Sometimes these new AI guys lie to us (african) ngo you can run this model on consumer grade PC ... I tried. Just the tokenization with a .6B model overwhelmed my 20G/i5 machine. Imagine! Just generating embedding. 600$/m for running a descent pipeline. #linux #postgresml

We had the same experience. We then built our own company that uses the same tools we were proposing to local banks. Now we eat "our own dogfood" = We have a microfinance that uses our softwares we were trying to sell. We got certified and used by other banks and enterprises.
I am usually impressed by people who are running successful start ups out here. It takes a lot. Blood and sweat. Oh, the company that was awarded the contract had tried to acquire us and employ some of the key team members but we refused. I'd still make the same decision today.

It's been about a year since my team has fully adopted all the AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code) And day to day I am feeling the added cruft in the code base. Unit tests are not catching regressions. Unneeded mocking, comments, are left in between. More refactoring is needed
