5/7 Exercise should be part of standard CKD care, from early stages to dialysis. Yet it’s still underused. Our work offers clinical and molecular evidence to change that. 👊

4/7 🧠 On a molecular level, we found that exercise modulates Klotho, a protein linked to ageing and kidney health. We were the first to propose Klotho as a potential molecule released by exercise with systemic benefits.

3/7 🔬 Key findings: -More muscle mass = slower kidney decline -Exercise during dialysis improves survival markers -Even frail patients benefit via blood flow restriction training (BFR-RT)

2/7 My PhD thesis focused on resistance training as a therapy to preserve kidney function. Across 6 studies with >1,000 patients, we showed that exercise is medicine for CKD. 💪🧬

1/7 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) affects over 10% of the global population. It's not just a kidney problem—it accelerates ageing, causes inflammation, and increases mortality.
