This proposal is based on the plan Michigan operated under in the last cycle. It takes elected officials out of the redistricting process entirely. And it works. In Michigan, voters choose their elected officials, instead of elected officials choosing their voters.
Groups are starting to collect signatures to get a constitutional amendment on the Nov. 2024 ballot that would scrap Ohio's current system for drawing legislative and congressional district maps and create a new one.

The Ohio Redistricting Commission will reconvene on Sept. 13 to begin the map drawing process. I’m encouraging an efficient process to have completed maps by Sept. 22 to give our county BOEs the time they need to prepare for the November General Election.

The schools Cirino cites to justify his attack on Ohio's public universities are: Harvard, MIT, and Penn.
