I wrote about Lea Ypi's new book for @ArtReview_ "Ypi ventures, that ‘dignity has nothing to do with nature’. Indignity proposes that dignity instead involves reckoning with history." https://t.co/TwG4EEBljT

The philosopher’s latest book encapsulates the broader challenges involved in reconstructing the warmth of a life from cold archival fragments

I'll be teaching this course at BISR beginning November 12. We'll be reading Aimé Césaire, Ghassan Kanafani, Lorraine Hansberry and thinking about "the entry of the chorus, of the ex- slaves themselves, as the arbiters of their own fate" (CLR James).

even as I hope desperately for this to be a lasting ceasefire I cannot but reel at thinking what the near, mid, and longterm consequences will be for Gaza, esp. in light of our @UnhappinessPod conversation with Dr. Jess Ghannam a year and a half ago now

Rent controls are one of the big victories achieved by tenants and workers in the history of the Scottish Parliament. It wouldn’t have happened if @living_rent hadn’t spend more than a decade fighting for it. Congratulations to @ruth_gilbert and all the other stalwarts.
💥We won rent controls.💥 Just now, MSPs voted to pass the Housing bill and with it, rent controls. This bill wouldn’t exist without the work of Living Rent members. It caps rent increases between tenancies, clamps down on disrepair, and strengthens joint tenancy rights.
