Faten Hameed stood for Labour in the Glasgow Central constituency in 2017 and 2019. She even spoke at Labour ’s Glasgow election rally with Jeremy Corbyn in 2017. Hameed them jumped ship to the Tories and now she has joined Reform. What a chancer.

When you consider that the Greens have 7 MSPs, their staff and 35 councillors as well as additional party staff, a decent portion of the 950 votes must come from the party apparatus in effect.

Just over 4,000 ballots were cast at the last Scottish Tory leadership election. I'm not sure either the Lib Dems or Reform would manage much more than the Greens either but they're not parties that generally style themselves as an activist movement of the left.

It's astonishing that fewer than 1,000 members (of a party of 7,000 members) bothered to turn out to decide who gets to lead a political party which has a significant group of MSPs and was in government until last year.
Gillian Mackay elected Scottish Green co-leader on first round and Ross Greer on second round. Only 950 votes cast!
