Atse Yohannes' letter asking for the ክብረ ነገሥት and ኩራተ ርእሱ
«አሁንም ሁለቱን ክብረ ነገሥቱንና ኩራተ ርእሱን ቢሰዱልኝ እወድ አለሁ ካለበት ሁሉ አስፈልገው»
This icon taken into battle by Ethiopian kings was one of only two items that Emperor Yohannes asked to be returned. Queen Victoria wrote back not found. Richard Holmes the British Museum rep kept it. If returned perhaps the Emperor might not have died at the battle of Metemma?

Why see everything in the framework of American identitarian sentimental politics. There is no need for gatekeeping, especially when people are genuinely learning, researching and teaching the language.
There are many different communities who speak languages that are rooted in Ge'ez. Fun fact, no one calls it "Ethiopic." Another fun fact, you mention all Europeans here and ZERO people from places where Ge'ez originates from or is currently alive.

Dejazmach Geresu was the best friend of my great aunt, Weyzero Asselefech, whose daughter Almaz was forcefully married to a aschegari man called Rayaw Kefelew. He rules over Debrebrihan but he took his new wife to Antokia Desert in Menz to teach her about her country 😂

We should be happy ancient wisdom and knowledge in this language is circulating in the world’s universities when we haven’t given it the respect it deserves in Ethiopia or Eritrea. Whether it is called Ethiopic or Ge’ez.

It's from 'A Yemeni Embassy to Ethiopia, 1647 - 1649' about a misunderstanding between Atse Fasil and the Imam of Yemen. One of the theories about the Najashi mentioned is that he had become a Muslim.
