Building at Risk: Woolton Hall (c. 1704), remodelled by Robert Adam and Grade I-listed, has stood empty for years. Owners previously sought to demolish it, prompting its Grade I designation. Now it’s been gutted by a devastating fire. #Heritage.

The Secretary of State (SoS) rejected the initial application for listing, and it is deeply troubling that this fire would occur at a time when the SoS has been asked to review that decision, due to inconsistencies in the initial assessment of the building.

We are devastated to see yet another historic industrial site lost to fire. The destruction of Medlock Mill (also known as the Hotspur Press building), one of Manchester’s earliest surviving cotton mills, is a tragic blow to the City's heritage. 📷: © Matt Harrop (cc-by-sa/2.0)

In the village of Heckingham, #Norfolk, you’ll find St Gregory’s—an exceptional example of Norman #architecture. This Grade I listed church dates from the 12th century, with later additions in the 13th and 15th centuries that reflect its long and layered history.
