@TwtZey The 14th Century Qur'anic exegete Ismail Ibn Kathir in the commentary of this verse while describing the word Kokab Abraham May God's peace and blessings be upon him first proved that Venus is not worthy of worship" (Tafsir Ibn Kathir 6:79). Btw we didn’t know this until 1800s

@ashleysbored Skip him entirely. Hes the single most hyper-liberal of any single patristic in history and guilty of extensive academic dishonesty. A failed neoplatonist who regressed to straight second century Gnosticism over time. And a terrible exegete to boot. Read Origen to stay christian

Andreas Hyperius was born in 1511 in Ypres, Belgium, and studied at the University of Paris. He became Professor of Theology at Marburg in 1542. An esteemed exegete and expert on homiletics, Hyperius died in Marburg in 1564. This valuable guide to preaching was considered a key

Ever wonder where Catholics get the idea of an infallible Magisterium from? Here I exegete my favorite passage (Matthew 28) and interact with the contrary opinion (classical Protestant theologians). Link below

@Deenresponds I’m talking about how to exegete the biblical texts. Scholars find your position laughable but you reject the majority opinion, but then dismiss Watts by saying he is not of the majority opinion. So you buried your claim Muhammad is in the Bible. You’re just coping because your

In a probabilistic game, “why did it lose” is often a trap. The cleaner question is “would I do the same thing again.” That question makes you unbreakable.

I'm sauntering through the book of Job this season. Today, I read chapters 13 & 14. My spirit leapt at a few verses therein, but Job 13:17 made it to my wall. I'll exegete & capture the others tomorrow. Which verse hit you today?🫠 #BibleStudy #Bible #reading #WordOfTheDay

@MikeWingerii Dear Bro. Mike, when we officially met at Charlie’s funeral, you would barely shake my hand. I made a point to be kind and gracious. I even said I appreciate your ministry. You never cracked a smile and acted as if I was some homeless guy asking for a dollar. You have a

Simply owning a great tool doesn't make you a good exegete. That's why I'm glad @Logos also offers guidance for careful use of Scripture. Exhibit A: this interview w/ @VanhoozerKevin who offers an in-depth, conscientious handling of hermeneutics. https://t.co/UB6nTMArva

Incoherent and contradictory is correct. It is a hermeneutical disaster, especially when they have to exegete the Torah.

Supersessionism, covenant theology, fulfillment theology, the Church as the “new Israel”, call it whatever you want, is and will always be incoherent and contradictory. You can’t have the literal curses upon national/territorial Israel but not the blessings.

@ItsAaronRich I have tried listening to his vids against @followffoz. I can only make it so far as the arguments are the typical "New Testament can redefine the Old." It is shallow. @DavidWilberBlog did a video today on Solberg's inability to exegete Scripture at a consistent level.
