We often think church is mainly for outreach, but the Bible says the purpose is something far deeper. When we gather, we are working to nurture and cultivate our life of communion with Him. This is how we are formed and matured! Subscribe to G3+ for the full message!

The Christian life is a life of waiting. We live between two worlds. We were saved in hope. And it is precisely in this waiting that our weakness is most profoundly exposed.

Your standing before God depends not on the strength of your grip on him, but on the strength of his grip on you.

"True power is the sovereign, regenerating work of the Holy Spirit operating exclusively through the faithful proclamation of a crucified Christ." 🧵
If there is one word that captivates the modern church, it is the word power. We crave it. We talk about it. We pursue it. But what does this power look like?

Your weakest moment in prayer is the Spirit’s finest hour of intercession. Your spiritual inadequacy is the stage upon which he performs his most powerful work.

Because the Spirit always intercedes according to the will of God, it means that from the moment you became a Christian, you have never prayed an imperfect prayer.

And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. There is a perfect, unbroken line of communication within the Trinity.

These are not our groanings. These are the groanings of the Holy Spirit. He takes the raw material of our pain, the chaos of our confusion, the wordless agony of our hearts, and he translates it. He articulates it perfectly before the throne of God.

And right here, in this place of utter inadequacy, is the divine solution: but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. When you can no longer pray, the Holy Spirit prays for you.

Our weakness is most profound when we do not know what to pray for as we ought. In the depths of suffering, we are brought to the absolute end of ourselves. Our minds are a fog of pain and anxiety. We are left speechless before God.

But Paul says in Romans 8:26 that the Spirit helps us in our weakness. He sees us straining under the weight of our weakness, and he comes alongside to take up the burden with us. He doesn’t always remove the suffering, but he always enters into it.

The result was a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. The greatest miracle was regeneration in their hearts.
