On #WorldMentalHealthDay, we recognize the unique mental health challenges faced by family physicians. In the current system, FPs are experiencing increasing levels of burn out and moral injury. Thriving family physicians are vital for healthy communities 💚 #bcdocscare

@JEVLloyd 🙏🏻 this kind of care can be supported by a team. Some things people book in for could be diverted to others (eg well-child visits, wound care, immunizations) allowing family docs to spend time w others and support team as needed. Like dental offices! #Teambasedcare #BCDocsCare

THIRTY percent of our 🇨🇦 medical system is already private (accessible only to those w insurance). Completely inane to bog down public system w admin of private system. Unfair to people without insurance, waste of time for everyone else, except for $$$corporations #BCDocsCare
The medical system should not be corporations' HR police. Governments should protect our public healthcare system by prohibiting this abuse of the system. People should only go see a doctor if they feel they need to for **medical** reasons.

#PatientsBeforePaperwork – It just makes sense! For years @BCCFP has pushed the right solutions for fixing BC healthcare, yet the BC NDP continues to ignore said solutions. It's time for action, not more delays! #BCPoli @BC_GP_Shortage #patients #everyonedeservesafamilydoctor

@DrJLush @Vanessa58386340 @drpaulwinston @CBContheisland @katiederosayyj @cindyeharnett @DoctorsOfBC @BCFamilyDoctors @VanIslandHealth @MurrayRankinNDP @adriandix For administrators complaining FPs do too much “indirect patient care”, would they rather have us bring patients in to sit alongside us while we work? Or could they reduce the endless forms and secretarial work we do for patients and the system? #BCDocsCare

@jtferrier People need medical care and docs want to provide it. Multiple ministries and employers demand medical forms to justify benefits and services. Will the @bcndp help BC docs put #PatientsB4Paperwork and reduce these barriers? #BCDocsCare #BCpoli @BCCFP @BCFamilyDoctors

@markroseman @SeeSpringVic @bcndp Honestly terrified in a legislated solution (eg every PCP taking on more pts) Access is already a challenge given the crumbling system around us. How can we provide excellent patient care for larger populations, without adequate teams, constricted by bureaucracy? #BCDocsCare

@ForeverUnitedFU @drpaulwinston @markroseman @cpsbc_ca @DoctorsOfBC Many doctors want to help. We have become gatekeepers for the social welfare system. A UBI would reduce the time and anguish of this gatekeeping (and the bureaucratic costs - but that might mean job losses- so unlikely to gain political momentum). #BCDocsCare

@SpecialistsBc Consultants managing waitlists can’t accept all referrals, making extra administrative work for family physicians trying to get care for patients. #BCDoctorWaitLists #BCDocsCare @SpecialistsBc @BCFamilyDoctors

@markroseman @SeeSpringVic @bcndp Attachment means: FPs asked to do urgent pt care when other services suddenly unavailable. FP getting copied on lab tests and double checking if the ordering clinicians followed up (as many don’t). FP writing forms - digitally or not- to justify basic pt needs. #BCDocsCare

@markroseman @SeeSpringVic @bcndp Attachment means: being available 24/7, no one to take over your work if you’re sick (but writing off work notes and disability forms for others), curating patient’s results in between seeing other patients #BcDocsCare

@JEVLloyd Pertussis vax funded for certain groups. Pharmacist has to charge you if not publicly eligible. My reading says you can get this vaccine administered, at a fee to you, without rx. Rx enables you to claim against private insurance #BCDocsCare
