@PeteNorth303 @jdlholmes Sure, but you’d have to follow the timeline of the UK’s adoption, followed by disregard, of the EU’s #WaterFrameworkDirective (#WFD). Back in 2012 we were aiming at blue flag beaches & decontaminated rivers. Post-2016 UK’s backtracked, then last year sanctioned discharges.

Could be a post from ca 2000, when signs of nutrient enrichment in Great Western Lakes were already evident. Three river basin management plans along since then. EU #WaterFrameworkDirective came into effect in 2000.
