While the #BootlegFire has been devastating, within it are glimmers of hope. Forests where the Klamath Tribes have been allowed to practice traditional land mngmt have, as expected, been protected. There are no better people to protect their lands than the Tribes. #LandBack
Tribal land management keep us all safe. The Klamath Tribes’ prescribed burns and forest thinning projects have protected thousands of acres and many buildings from destruction in the Bootleg Fire. #LandBack

40% of Southern Oregon’s #BootlegFire is contained. That means 60% is not. This is part of that 60%. Firefighters today took us on a guided tour of the fire’s northeastern flank, where crews are triaging spot fires & building containment lines as fast as they can.

#BREAKING: The #CougarPeakFire has more than doubled in size in the last 12 hours. Last night the fire was estimated at 37,000 acres, now it’s more than 83,000 with 0% containment. This fire is reminding me a lot of the #BootlegFire which double and tripled in size early on.
