6 Years ago I made a video about an early access game which let you fly the Mercury, Gemini & Apollo spacecraft. The video did not perform well at the time, I was disappointed. But the developer recently said that my coverage was instrumental in making him decide to continue

GPU is a factory that is constrained by rate at which you can throw material to it (memory bandwidth). At some point, the RoI and eventually physics comes in way. Also : people equating scaling I/O bound loads to scaling compute or memory bound loads 🤷🏽♂️
Can someone explain to me why ~500 tok/s is fast and what in-the-weeds technical constraints prevent 100,000 tok/s at same quality? My gut is there’s incredible waste due to infinite money and in a world w/ 1/10000th of the capital models would be orders of magnitude better

One sobering reality for everyone asking for India’s deepseek moment.. they built a cross node GPU comms lib better than nvidia ! We just don’t have enough talent with this level of hands on knowledge at hardware software interface level. 😕
one of the often overlooked factors behind deepseek’s success lies in how the team built their distributed infrastructure from the ground up (despite severe gpu constraints!). their custom communication library hfreduce replaced nccl and delivered substantially higher bandwidth

Dumb take . Idea behind SGB was not for government to buy gold (instead of citizens) and still lock up the money. It is not government issued ETF. It is a bond, a loan from citizens to the government which was supposed be put to productive use instead of gold purchase .
India is losing ₹1.5–1.7 lakh crore because of one of the government’s biggest financial blunders. They issued Sovereign Gold Bonds without backing them with real gold, just paper promises. They assumed gold prices won’t rise this much. Well, they did. Now the government has

#Etymology (word history) lesson: "Agentic AI" is the buzzword. Word "Agent" comes from Latin word "agere" which is related to, of course, संस्कृत root "अज्" meaning "to impel, to drive".. So, agent model is something that can drive things/take actions, on its own..

🙏🏽 the most apt use of AI research! More power to Google and DeepMind !
An exciting milestone for AI in science: Our C2S-Scale 27B foundation model, built with @Yale and based on Gemma, generated a novel hypothesis about cancer cellular behavior, which scientists experimentally validated in living cells. With more preclinical and clinical tests,

I doubt this is the right take , @fchollet 😅
Observe -> Conclude -> Doubt -> Repeat. The most critical step in any intelligent process is the one most people (and AI systems) skip.

Dear @jk_rowling thank you for mesmerising generations of kids with your books. I was afraid my 7 year old might take long to finish them. To my surprise, she finished first one swiftly and even wrote a letter to you. Here's me with awkward act of tagging you with the letter 😃

Two decades ago, Arduino put a microcontroller in every student’s hand, revolutionizing grassroots education. Today, as Arduino begins a new chapter in another domain, we’re opening the next chapter in education: putting FPGAs into every student’s hand. We’re delighted to

Indian tpot , CS influencers , course sellers tell folks to focus on (imo) mid ideas 💡 Simple databases, trivial project in C or esoteric Linux syscalls. They are still living in 2010s. Young engineers following this advice are gonna miss the bus of AI hardware/software

Now, wouldn’t it be fun if they could get the Italian air chief to join in the photo too ? Oh wait ..
German Air Force Commander Neumann and Japanese Air Force Commander Morita shake hands on the open tail ramp of a Luftwaffe Airbus A400M transport aircraft. Behind them: two Japanese F-15J Eagles and two German Eurofighters Don't know why, but it's a freaking awesome picture 💯
