Early in my career, I was into the "10,000 steps a day" science - 10,00 Steps Rockhampton, 10,000 Steps Australia, 10,000 Steps challenge in NZ. Back then we had the Yamax digiwalker the little clip on pedometers. Very quaint by today's smart watch and iPhone standards. There.

There's a lot of media attention around the newest "how many steps is optimal?" study. The claim is that 7,000 steps/day is the sweet spot. But if you look at the data, the risk reduction for nearly every outcome is > for 10k and 12k steps per day (vs. 2k) than for 7k.
