If someone shows you a new or different take or approach to a hard problem, and your response is: “oh so this is just X thing applied to Y thing”, maybe shut up and listen to them for a sec because they might actually have solved Y thing without using your old shitty X thing?

Just ran the same prompt with Windsurf's new SWE-1 model and gpt-5-codex gpt-5-codex took over 22 minutes. SWE-1 took under 15 seconds. Neither worked 🙃

Mid-but-fast models mean more iteration The number one think devs joke about is not losing focus when the model is working Since they are all getting better at prompting, I think these fast but mid models are going to win out in the long run
