Well it only took 13 years (or maybe ~1,600 generations) to get validated since the first publication, but now that it has entered its teenage years, Nitrosotalea is Candidatus no more! https://t.co/dFfdWz2xOn @ArchaeaLaura @micecoevo @CHazard99 @EMG_Lyon

Characterisation of isolated nitrite oxidiser Ca. Nitrobacter laanbroekii, originally enriched >35 years ago by Wietse de Boer during his PhD & named in honour of Riks Laanbroek. It also makes acidophilic Nitrosotalea behave a bit more like regular AOA!

Stable biogeochemical cycles and ecosystem functions rely on microbial population and diversity. @junzhaoME of @UF_IFAS aims to link soil taxonomy and the recovery of key biogeochemical processes after environmental disturbances. @UF_MCS @UFIFAS_FLREC @WMHMicEcolLab @graemewnicol

Despite wetland viruses having substantial impacts on carbon cycling & biogeochemistry, our understanding is limited to a handful of field sites. @JEmersonmicro of @UCDavis will subject an array of samples to the same suite of omic analyses for comparison. https://t.co/pmjVmObGSE

Microbes play a critical role in the global carbon cycle, yet the impact of viruses is unclear. @CHazard99 of @CentraleLyon will examine 'real-time' evolution of virus/host interactions in soil to understand their importance in biogeochemical cycles. @AmpereLab @EMG_Lyon

Another day, another record for the North Atlantic. Everything is happening so fast, it's hard to get a sense of the enormity of these anomalies, let alone their consequences.
