Open vs closed data is going to be one of the most interesting developments to watch in the coming months. Apps and infra businesses are gonna start competing. Data lakes companies have the opportunity to do their own app and/or become true platforms.
i predict that both Databricks and Snowflake will announce very specific app layer ambitions in the next 4 months (frontrunning Dreamforce). AI apps need context, and they will argue that they have the best context and are thus the rightful heir to the system of record thrones.
