1.2 million (estimated) people involuntary hospitalized per year in the US is insane. Cool working paper on an important topic.
Around 1.2 million people are hospitalized involuntarily due to mental illness in the US each year. Policymakers are thinking of expanding such programs across the country. We conducted the first study to determine the causal effects of involuntary hospitalization.

Big regret with my master's thesis was trying to internal validity max a data-heavy idea with a gazillion FEs and robustness checks. Better to either do this (replicate paper) or something creative and not-even-remotely causal.
all MSc Econ theses should mandatorily be replication exercises. i’m sorry but 95% (lower bound) of them are not turning into published papers. students would learn a lot more and provide a service to the profession.
