According to this administration’s actions, the President needs a judicial warrant to seize a ship in far-off waters. But the President has inherent power to unilaterally bomb a ship in far-off waters. These folks are making it up their constitutional theories as they go.
THe heavily redacted court-approved warrant to seize the Venezuelan oil tanker has been unsealed. https://t.co/ZgJCDQsiCq

A man was choked on the floor of a Charlotte restaurant by Border Patrol agents — and thousands of Americans invented a knife to justify it. My newest oped on on the lies Americans tell themselves to excuse state violence.

I posted a photo of Border Patrol agents pinning a man to the ground in a headlock – and the internet made up every excuse in the book to defend the assault.

The most important immigration story of 2025 is the termination of legal status for immigrants. Manufacturing illegal immigrants for the mass deportation machine
NEW: the Trump admin is moving to terminate legal status for ~20,000 people: - Temporary Protected Status for Ethiopia, in place since 2022, with ~5,000 beneficiaries - Family Reunification Parole, in place since 2023 and some legacy cases from earlier, covering ~15,000 people.

U.S. citizens are not required to carry immigration documents. It’s hard to know which is greater here: the level of corruption or incompetence.
@David_J_Bier One must carry immigration documents as per the INA. A Real ID is not an immigration document.

“The annual chance of being murdered in an Afghan terrorist attack is about 1 in 14.2 billion per year. The annual chance of being murdered in a normal homicide is about 1 in 14,000 per year, approximately one million times greater,” writes Cato Institute's @AlexNowrasteh.

Yikes. USDOJ refused to brief a constitutional issue after a Sixth Circuit request (because the government won on standing at the district court). Ream v. US Dep't of Treasury, about whether the government can prohibit home distilling under its tax power. Judge was clearly

Tricia’s lying. The incident is on camera. George did nothing illegal. But federal officers arrested him and held him incommunicado for 3 days before releasing him without charge. When @IJ sues, we’ll prove the falsity of Tricia’s statements. George will prevail under the FTCA.

🚨Judge Xinis finds that, incredibly, Mr. Abrego Garcia was never ordered deported in 2019. She notes that every since this saga began all the way back in March, the government has NEVER been able to produce any evidence that the immigration judge issued a removal order.
HUGE. Judge Xinis grants the writ of habeas corpus and orders that the government "SHALL release [Kilmar] Abrego Garcia from ICE custody immediately."

Gotta disagree a bit with @FixTheCourt here. It should have been obvious to Bove **as soon as he heard about the rally** that he should get nowhere near it.
🚨NEWS: Court reform advocacy group @FixTheCourt has filed a formal ethics complaint against Judge Emil Bove over his attendance at Trump’s PA speech last night. “It should have been obvious to Judge Bove, either at the start of the rally or fairly close to it, that this was a

Wait, now the Admin wants people to wear gym clothes to the airport? Didn't they just spend a billion on a campaign telling travelers to dress up for their flights?
Airports are enormous. You can literally walk for miles in them for free. Yet we're gonna spend $1 billion because travelers aren't moving enough? 🤦♂️

This is insane. Why should we care what someone interested in coming here for a visit said on their social media accounts? This is the kind of shit China does, and it should offend us.

Among the many dangerous things that ICE is doing to undermine trust in real law enforcement is pretending to be real police to trick people into talking to them. This woman probably won't open her door the next time the real Sacramento Police wants to talk to her.

Absolutely damning. 95% of ICE's efforts, by its own admission, are not against the worst of the worst.
There are 9,738 people on this list. From January 21 through October 15 (the latest we have verifiable data from), ICE recorded 220,802 arrests. So DHS is implicitly admitting that less than 5% of the people it arrests are people they believe are "the worst of the worst."

As an added bonus, you get to work with me. What could be better?

Habba steps down but it appears DOJ will continue to litigate the case rather than concede it is moot, likely because of the issue whether past indictments were valid.
