A halo shining above a melting #glacier. Nature is fascinating, but quickly changing in the high mountains

Striking and poignant:
Walking underneath a #glacier in a proglacial lake. Extraordinary experience today! And hey, it's not a good sign: only in dying ice, such channels are accessible - and will soon be gone completely

I don't listen back to my podcasts, esp. full-length, but I've just listened to the hosts' intro which emphasises the *hope* in our climate discussion. And "gentle on the outside, fierce on the inside" is one of my favourite compliments, from one of the people I most admire 💙💙

Leslie-Anne is a Reader in Environmental Law, so her work will complement @dr_andy_russell brilliantly and make Parliamentary evidence on climate & environment even more joined up and interdisciplinary

Finally, thanks to @KingsCollegeLon for encouraging & supporting me to take this secondment - and for being so excellent that the new @UKParliament TRL for International Affairs and National Security, Dr Leslie-Anne Duvic-Paoli @LA_Duvic, is also from KCL! 🏆💪

@UKParliament @commonslibrary @dr_andy_russell @UKRI_News @POST_UK @UKParl_Research Enormous thanks to all the Parliamentary colleagues, MPs and peers, and external science-policy experts who supported this role and my work. It's been truly transformative and I'm very grateful

@UKParliament @commonslibrary Tomorrow I pass the baton to @dr_andy_russell, one of EIGHT new Thematic Research Leads for next 2 years - a huge commitment by @UKRI_News @UKParliament @POST_UK @UKParl_Research to strengthen links between experts & Parliament even more: https://t.co/W4kn2zOmb5 (reg. required).

Scheme that places researchers at heart of policymaking set to be expanded, but can evidence-based advice really make a difference in heat of politics?

Being first @UKParliament Thematic Research Lead (Climate & Environment) has been a huge honour and I've learned so much. As one of my last projects, we've just published a @commonslibrary Insight "Understanding uncertainty in climate change predictions" https://t.co/eXHa3YZ5gL
commonslibrary.parliament.uk
Predictions of the future effects of climate change must make assumptions about human decisions, describe a complex world, and include natural climate variation.

Also listen if you want to know why human energy works like hybrid cars… (brilliant analogy)
If you have, or know someone with, Long Covid, ME/CFS, post-cancer fatigue etc - who has crashes in energy, cognitive function & health after exertion (as I just did after a conference and train fail…), this is such a clear, warm & helpful podcast. Good resources too. Thanks 🙏🏻
