100 years of the special bear. This is worth reading about the location. The Natural World of Winnie-the-Pooh: Exploring the Real Landscapes of the Hundred Acre Wood https://t.co/57aamhVyLb Kathryn Aalto writes nonfiction like a beautiful story.

The tales of Winnie-the-Pooh, Christopher Robin, and their merry bunch of friends playing at Poohsticks Bridge and The Floody Place are classic and beloved children's literature. In The Natural World...

Free speech is alive and well in UK. It is because uncivil violence-inciting people are challenged by a law to protect others. Where are the meaningful discussions that used to happen here?

This week’s outrage about arrests for offensive speech omits that the majority of those arrested were actively harassing their targets - words and threats can be terrifying and debilitating. Have you seen someone so shocked and shaking they can barely stand?

I joined Twitter to be informed and entertained, in bite-sized text from real sources. On X, most is now video adverts or political spin without fact-check. The level of misinformation takes too much energy. /1 of ?

So my neighbour’s house was on fire. He came running out saying “please call the fire brigade!” I said of course but only if he gifted me half of his possessions. He said no, so I told him to get stuffed. Do I get a Nobel Peace prize?

V pleased with news that @NetworkRailSE has signed a partnership deal with @bluebellrailway. NR gets to recycle old rail components by reusing them at Bluebell; Bluebell also gets promo space at London termini and NR staff can use volunteering days on the line. It was an early

I shared this note with the Washington Post team this morning: I’m writing to let you know about a change coming to our opinion pages. We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets. We’ll cover other topics too

entertainment @richardosman notes lack of bands in UK charts. in 2015 a change of licensing laws - solo artists and duos didn’t need venue performance license. Great for singer songwriters (finally) but musicians said it would change UK music forever. Perhaps they were right.

Speaking as someone who is proud to have worked with safeguarding victims, to those in the church who think it’s okay to hint at identifying a victim of sexual harassment without their permission you should (a) be ashamed (b) consider your position. It’s a fucking outrage. #rage

#TerryPratchett , definitely worth re-reading. In A Blink of the Screen (3rd time) I noticed: Death and What Comes Next. Best lecture on parallel universes and existential philosophy I’ve read. Asks good questions, gives explanations, makes you laugh. Thanks @terryandrob

10 years ago I was still stuck in the query trenches (lost & confused). Here’s a few things I’ve learned about writing/publishing in the past decade 🧵 1. Resilience. Rejection is part of the job. It gets easier. It’s not that your work isn’t good it’s that it isn’t a good fit.

This thread is thoughtful and well worth reading. Assuming fantasy fiction should eliminate disability is like assuming all characters in that genre should fit the stereotypes. It’s not engaging. It’s not representative of readers. It’s probably bad writing.
This is a terrible take for many reasons, and makes me determined to now write a fantasy WITH a wheelchair in it. But let's deconstruct WHY this is terrible... 🧵
