Well the Google March core update is almost over and my travel blog, that I have worked so hard on has almost disappeared from search. Honestly, I’m devastated. It feels very unfair, but hopefully I can keep inspiring you to travel through social media

A few years ago I traveled to Peru and wrote the first guide for Huchuy Picchu, which was a newly opened hike at that time.
My blog post ranked
#1
on Google for years, which makes sense, because I did the hike myself and other Peru websites

my site has been decimated by the Sept HCU and even worse now. I look at the content that is now ranking above me, I just don’t get how my site could have fell so low. I write detailed travel guides. Is there even a chance of recovery?

I feel like my only choice is to know make a Facebook group or Reddit group to reach my audience because it seems like the algorithm has decided my site doesn’t make the cut even though I do everything possible to make my travel guides super helpful for those planning a trip
Id be lying if I didn’t say the main reason I joined this app was to complain when I felt companies wronged me 😂 they are more responsive here than their automated customer service
Unpopular opinion- I often see creators doing posts/ stories without disclosing it is paid, sponsored, or gifted. As a creator, I know what it is, but most consumers won’t besides the fact it’s technically illegal to not disclose it. If you have been paid or gifted… disclose it.
As the end of this year nears, I started to reflect on what a year this has been for me. I’ve had a lot of new changes and experiences that have made lasting impacts on my life. One being my new travel blog. What has your year looked like?

For me, I don’t want to go with you if you want to check a bag. I’m not waiting for you at the carousel 🤣. When I bring my mom with me, I tell her she can only come if she checks a bag. Therefore she went out and bought a travel backpack and a new carryon
El Matador was the most beautiful beach I have ever been to, but also the most crowded. After about an hour of scouting to get into this spot without people was well worth the view!

Upon checking some larger reputable travel sites, I’ve noticed that most sites have gone down in this update. It’s sad to see in the travel space in general. I’ve also noticed Rick Steve’s travel forums have gone up. So travel has 3 forums to battle.
Making time for the things you love. For me making time for sunsets, animals, the ocean and my family fill my days with love. What about you?

In 1 week, I’ll be doing my first press trip of the year and it’s a mother daughter trip! I’m so happy I have the opportunity to bring my mom places with me that she would have never gone to otherwise ❤️

My site very much seemed to fall into this bucket. The whole reason I have ads is so I can provide free information. This is how us content creators don’t use pay walls. There are tons of platforms I can just sell pdfs of my info instead but I wanted to make it free and 1/2
Blogging wins! I have finally made it to DA 14! While it is still super low, I am super happy about going from 9 to 14 in two months.

I have been a travel blogger for over 5 years, but these past google updates have just decimated my site. I have always used my true experiences, no help of AI and poured my heart and soul into making helpful travel guides.

Hey friends! I am very close to hitting 50k sessions to apply for mediavine and would so appreciate it if you could support me by just clicking the link to my website below! Thanks so much!

Yikes. I hope my travel site didn’t fall into that. I don’t have Spain lol. I appreciate your honesty. I think every site can have some “unhelpful” info. I think keyword researching tools can be a bit to blame for that, or looking at what was ranking and making sure to cover it.
@lilyraynyc
Thanks for sharing! hearing at least a year is definitely tough. To thing 2-3 years... as small publishers.. I can see a lot of us in travel giving up. I have noticed there are also other "travel forums" that have made it to the top of the serps. Even big travel sites dropped
@waldesoliveira
Hug back to you. It wasn’t just a business to me. It was very much my identity which is why I feel it hits even harder. If I’m not a traveler blogger, I don’t know what to be

Thanks for catching the email pop-up because that is actually a glitch. It shouldn’t be there. As for ads, I have the lowest volume allowed by mediavine without having to manually put them all in myself

Zaanse Schans was one of the most touristy places that I actually loved. Getting to climb to the top of these wooden windmills, watching clogs be made, and seeing sheep 🐑 -made all the crowds not so bad.
Is there a touristy place you love?

I don’t get how Google deemed my site unhelpful. Meanwhile, they will push small bloggers to start creating on facebook, TikTok, Reddit, and Instagram, their competitors that they have said they lost so much traffic to, yet are pushing us away 🤷♀️

In some places, did I seo too hard? Maybe, but that was what Google wanted to actually rank in SERPs. Without including the keywords x amount of times and adding it to headers - you wouldn’t rank

In fact, when I use to hit publish, I would rank almost immediately within the top 10. So Google used to love my content at one point. I haven’t done anything different. If anything, I was giving them what they wanted. But since this is my brand - I’m doing the best I can
