Not sure who needs to hear this again but:. The Warriors winning in 2022 did not justify their Two Timelines idea. They won *in spite* of it. Then the plan meaningfully contributed to failure of the title defense in multiple ways. It’s just such a lazy defense.

The Warriors have whiffed on most of their 1st rounders so they always gotta hope their 2nd Round moonshots hit.

It's a subtle difference--or maybe not so much idk--but this mentality from Loon contrasts w/ other signs, signals, & reports we've seen from other young players. And no one reading this can say it isn't commendable. The other way is assumed to be too. but for whom & for what?

Whew. As a Warriors fan, if you don't take the time to read something like this from one of the franchise pillars, what is the point of any of this? . I'll genuinely never forget him stonewalling offensive geniuses on those switches & dominating the boards ofc. Thank you, Loon.

Steph being drama-free for 16 seasons is soooo underrated. Steady & not stressful through the losing seasons, through the addition/departure of another superstar, through a stealth rebuild during his viable time, through weird FMVP voting/talk, etc.

Talking heads around the Warriors HQ were seriously just saying whatever back then. Near-zero logic, little historical precedent, and even sometimes straight up falsehoods just to prop up the risky plan. My theory is still that many were getting bored of the dynasty era players.

@fakelogic Crazy to watch G-League Wiseman and think David Robinson was Wiseman and not the buffet of future third-stringers who were looking like David Robinson against him.

Just want to be very clear: Kuminga was still *19* years old at the time of this discussion. Steph and the vets got people so high on the wrong supply lol.

I'm generally a Legler fan, but his discussion about JK recently reminded me of this 2022 offseason segment when the panel was hyping up the GSW lotto picks--who were all still under 22 y.o.--as being critical for a defending NBA champion. Warriors Exceptionalism was contagious.

After the ‘22 title, the local media was trying to force “Top 6 playoff rotation” down our throats to justify Joe/Bob parking 1/3rd of the roster spots with extremely raw prospects. Still the most wild psyop I’ve seen as a Warriors fan & I lived through “It’s Great Time Out”.

@LegsESPN I followed up. I don't think you were disrespecting warriors at all. I think the focus is championships, not developing players. Reality is young players want to develop and get paid, not fit into a system. I think that's what you were alluding to. Sorry for bad interpetation!.

So crazy that this dark offseason lead to an ugly season which ultimately lead to the draft pick that became Stephen Curry. And then Cohan sold a season later. 🤣.

Sycophants for the Warriors’ management can rationalize the Two Timeline plan all they want, but in *true* timeline it played out in a pretty wasteful and disappointing way. JK’s situation just one of the many paths they miscalculated and so far seem to be ill-prepared for.

Interesting note from @BobbyMarks42 with @WillardAndDibs: If Jonathan Kuminga signs the Warriors' qualifying offer, he essentially gets a no-trade clause:. "It's a one-year Bird restriction, where he has full control over if he's traded or not.". 🎧

And who was complaining or worried about GSW’s ability to develop young players around the “Steph Curry system” as he lead them to the 2022 title (with 23-year old Poole being a notable contributor)?. Decent-to-bad prospects not fitting in on a contender is not a real indictment.

@samesfandiari @jjmaples55 @JDumasReports Also what players have actually been better outside of the Warriors? These quotes always come from guys that didn't make it past their rookie contract in the NBA or are out of the league real fast (McCants). Why should those guys know?.

Look, we went over this during the Big Jim Saga. Of course we can cite anecdotes like Jermaine O’Neal, Andrew Bynum, or Chauncey Billups developing later, but these are far more rare compared to the number of draft picks made. Star power is usually apparent early on.

Yeah, the reality of players like Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins, and Javale McGee—who were all notably and definitely fundamentally sound players outside of Steph’s orbit—all struggled to adapt to Steph within a short window so their careers stalled like Paschall’s…. ……. 🤣.

Wasting” is an inaccurate term since it’s results-based. e.g., Many point to ‘22 to debunk it. “Risked” is more appropriate, as in unnecessarily risked Steph’s era to build up the future. Undeniable they chose to hedge & focus on prospects or future picks that could be traded.

Yeah yeah, Joe and Bob inherited Steph Curry and had him in the present, but just think. what if they missed out on another Steph Curry? Sure, it didn't happen between 2010-2025, but still, WHAT IF?.

No Andy, can't sacrifice the future, even for Steph. REAL Warriors fans who have been around know the draft always works out. Big mistake trading 2014 (Rodney Hood) + 2017 (Josh Hart) for Iguodala, 2024 (Bub Carrington) to dump Iguodala, & 2025 (Kasparas Jakučionis) for Jimmy.

I keep saying this. All the lotto picks, and even someone like Podz who is a success story draft pick. all these guys are a dime a dozen in the NBA. There will be another 10 Kumingas in the next draft. And the next one. And the next. You can damn sure find a Wiseman every year!.

Clarification: OKC is applauded for having excess picks not because they will draft every single one, but because they have flexibility to *make moves* as needed.

We 100% know what going all-in looks like and it essentially never includes hoarding draft picks. A contender like OKC with all their picks is viewed as having *excess* and is applauded for that. They are the exception, not baseline.
