In Gothenburg, where it rains nearly 40% of the time, rain playgrounds have been designed that are more fun when it’s wet. I would 100% get behind developing rain playgrounds in Ireland. Who’s with me?! ☔️👏#singingintherain #childfriendlycities

[2/3] Ciara's research builds upon the work of @Deemcgillicuddy by examining the role of ability grouping in perpetuating educational inequality in maths. It is thought-provoking and, as with all good research, it raises some uncomfortable questions! A must-see @ 19:00 #STER2021

Tomorrow @tcddublin will elect a female provost for the first time in its history. Best of luck to the 3 excellent candidates. A major glass ceiling is getting shattered in the morning

The message for #WorldBookDay is to show that “books have the unique ability both to entertain and to teach”. With that in mind I’m going to collate and share my top books for improved maths understanding! Let me know if there is a part of maths you want included. #mathschat

This is a step in the right direction, with a one-point reduction in class size, increased funding and investment in leadership 👏 The true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members. I am happy that the Minister has started to take action.

As a maths person, today's date is extremely satisfying! 12.02.2021 is a palindrome day, i.e. the day's date can be read the same way backwards and forward. As a Friday activity, challenge your students to find more palindromes (words or dates) Let me know how they do!#edutwitter

As a rule of thumb maths problem-solving tasks should have a low floor, high ceiling and wide walls. What does this mean? They are easy to begin, can challenge all learners, and have multiple solution strategies. Check out the image I made to explain this. #mathschat #edchatie

Many teachers audit their libraries over the summer months. This time, along with assessing the basics, consider whether your library is as culturally responsive as it can be, and use the questionnaire below.#BlackLivesMatter #TeachingResources @PDSTie @ScoilnetPrimary @INTOnews

This is so unfortunate, especially after the success of the Dublin event! Next year @esbscienceblast will be back with a bang! Any teachers and children who still want to show off their projects, get in touch with me and I will try to arrange for a scientist to virtually chat!
It is with great regret that due to public health concerns linked to Covid-19, that the remaining 2020 ESB Science Blast Showcase days, in Limerick & Belfast, have been cancelled. #STEM #edchatie #believeinscience
