The passing of Dr. James Jackson is a tremendous loss for our scientific community and for me personally. I am so grateful for his support and guidance as we launched the #HANDLS study. His critiques were always constructively on point! He has been a giant! #BlackExcellence.

Great Perspective piece in @NEJM by first year medical student @LashNolen will be among our future leaders in medicine. For those of us who have been fighting in the medicine trenches, it is good to see fresh troops preparing to take the field.
If medical students and trainees are taught to recognize symptoms of disease in only white patients and learn to perform lifesaving maneuvers on only male-bodied mannequins, medical educators may be unwittingly contributing to health disparities.
