After 8+ years, today is my last day at HashiCorp. All those years ago, @mitchellh and @armon took a chance on me and my team, and I canβt thank them enough for doing so.

@wifelette sprang into action and found a local eatery in Austin that was happy to supply us with over 1,000 potpies each day. And thus, the Pot Pie RailsConf was born.

Over the next week we:. * Had @JohnAthayde design a t-shirt.* Ordered 1000 t-shirts.* Sorted the room layouts. When it came to sort out food, the hotel flatly rejected us, saying it was far too little time to work out a catering deal.

6 weeks before the conference, I realized that due to miscommunication, almost nothing except for setting the program had been done. No food, no swag, no room layout. In an absolute panic, I texted @wifelette pleading for help.

Let me retell the story of RailsConf 2012:. It was the first conference I was a director for and also the first year that O'Reilly was no longer ran any part (previously, O'Reilly ran everything but program).
Our final β yes, final β RailsConf in 2025 will be a special one focused on celebrating the Rails community. Read more about this, other big changes happening at Ruby Central and how you can get involved here:

For those curious: The byte copy loops in the hand assembly are really bad for large copies. But good news, Go 1.20+ improved the compiler enough that the hand assembly isnβt needed!. /cc @mitchellh @agoodney @jonjonsonjr.
@jessfraz figuring out why the main lz4 Go package is way slower than it should be an arm64!.
