I never ever want to have politicians pass a law which forbids us from doing something they think would hurt us. Warning labels? That's okay. Not letting SNAP benefits buy soda? <shrugs> But a ban - a complete stomp - is totalitarian nannyism and ought be fought.
A New York bill would ban AI from answering questions related to several licensed professions like medicine, law, dentistry, nursing, psychology, social work, engineering, and more. The companies would be liable if the chatbots give “substantive responses” in these areas.

I have a stupid question If they do age verification on everyone, making it so only adults can only visit some websites, that pushes people under age to certain parts of the internet that don't require age verification. ... doesn't that make it easier for pedophiles ... ?

Google is really upset at a guy who sold fake Google Reviews for businesses. They're suing him but are having trouble locating him. So they subpoenaed Stripe, GoDaddy, and others to get addresses for him. Will be interesting to see how this goes. I'll be tracking it.
