I'd like to think I would have eventually figured it out in 2027, which is when they're planning to release Forky.

"Debian distribution codenames are based on the names of characters from the Toy Story films." How did I never notice this?? I was like, yeah, slink.. potato.. woody... these are perfectly normal names for software versions.🤦‍♂️ https://t.co/hz8iEGjkg0

Many of us are trying, but we're all stuck on the first step: coming up with the perfect name for the project.

There was no good competitor to Kubernetes this year, meaning it continues to be one of the most grudgingly accepted tools. Startups in 2023 continued to provide great abstractions and ergonomics around k8s (e.g. Acorn, Raduis), but I’m still excited for a big shift.

I’m not saying $640k is chump change, but it still amazes me that the highest IQ dude on the planet makes less money than a lot of mid-30s private-equity directors and Facebook engineering managers.

My favorite thing about working at @OpenAI is being given the total freedom to dive deeply into your rabbit hole of choice. My choice was the Kubernetes scheduler and I've written a personal blog post sharing some interesting things I've learned about it https://t.co/cstOu8de6K

You worry about your green squares. I've been dark for so long they want to study me for science. We are not the same.

What's the best open source solution for serving open LLMs in way that is a drop in replacement for OpenAI?

Update! I finally have a thread to pull on. I just got another one of these emails, but this time the man's son was CC'd. I'm going to try emailing the son...

There's someone out there (in Canada?) with the same name as me who believes in his heart of hearts that he owns an email address which is, in fact, mine. If you're reading this, other Anthony, I have your train tickets, car service report, and group play lotto tickets.

Playing with the new custom GPT builder. Made an ELI5 mode, which pairs nicely with voice chat mode in the ChatGPT mobile app. I tried it with some of the questions my own five-year-old stumped me with recently and it did a better job than I did. https://t.co/n8BGb8mSU3

We just released acorn v0.9.0 which drops the CUE and uses the new language I wrote, called AML. I want to be clear, that at this moment I think the language is of no particular interest to anyone outside of acorn users. More to come.

You're a great engineer if you know: • Simple is beautiful • To focus on the problem, not the tech • How to reuse what already exists • Launching is the start, not the end • How to step back & let others lead • How to get different views & change your mind • Your customer

You’re a great engineer if you know the definition of: - idempotent - monoid - decoupled - dependency injection - unit - functional programming - asynchronous vs parallel programming - thread locking - eventual consistency - exactly-once semantics - lambda vs kappa

My interpretation of prompt engineering is this: 1. A LLM is a repository of many (millions) of vector programs mined from human-generated data, learned implicitly as a by-product of language compression. A "vector program" is just a very non-linear function that maps part of

The core of so many arguments about LLMs: Group 1 is builders who have pragmatic expectations of LLMs, and use them accordingly. They're quite happy with them. Group 2 is shitfluencers who are jumping on the hype wave and ruining it for everyone. Group 3 hates group 2 and

Early in my career I broke Facebook Chat (pre Messenger) for all IE users. Couldn't sleep all night afterwards. However, one of the most interesting issues I caused was when I removed about 300,000 duplicated files in Facebook's monorepo and pointed everything to the remaining

I would love to hear stories from senior+ engineers who pushed fuck ups to prod to know I’m not crazy for feeling some type of way to be told my code quality is poor due to code pushed to prod that I quickly fixed when I found the issues . Just wanna know if this is something
