so I've done some research and it turns out people DO get treated worse when they're assumed to be transgender. we should probably make it easier for people to update their documents. has anyone in Britain tried that recently??

If it can’t be solved by aggressive up-sucking to your betters or belligerent stomping on inferiors, then these people can’t solve it. These are their only real skills: they are the political wing of the hyper-confident manager class, so this is the full scope of their politics.

I mean look lads, if your politics cannot possibly endure the presence of one (1) Nazi squillionaire without it forcing you to crawl on your knees begging for the chance to kiss his arse, have you possibly considered that your politics are not very good

A "friend” white straight boy I know has gone full badenoch cos his parents farm got taxed, lmfao, THIS is why minority people are so sceptical. Like the solidarity is wafer thin. They'll throw you to the dogs to avoid 50 quid.

So, UK is no longer offering #COVID vaccines to pregnant women. Why do we keep ignoring the science? - There is NO evidence of increase in adverse events in babies from vaccinated moms. -Maternal immune activation caused by COVID can PROFOUNDLY impact fetal brain development.

The news that people inheriting land worth at least £1 million will have to pay tax on it has drawn significantly more outrage from politicians and the press than the news that 1 in 3 children in Britain are now living in poverty.

@AaronBastani @brianwhelanhack What are you talking about? Who are you even talking to here? Your colleague is expressing transphobic viewpoints and you're not going to do anything because you know a trans person and you get messages all the time from people hiding offscreen telling you that you're right?

Look, the Harris campaign made a huge push for center-right voters. You could blame this loss on the left if the strategy worked and they pulled in a ton of “moderates” at the expense of losing progressives. That’s not what happened though. They alienated the left for *nothing*

It’s critical that ob-gyns, health care professionals, stakeholders, and communities continue to keep maternal mortality in focus. Maternal health is key to the health and well-being of individuals and communities. 2/2

@CDCgov reports a 33% surge in pregnancy-related deaths in 2020–21—the highest national pregnancy-related mortality ratio recorded by CDC’s Pregnancy Mortality Surveillance System. Infection—namely, COVID-19—unsurprisingly led the causes; severe racial disparities persisted. 1/2

@austinahlman @mehdirhasan Yes, the centrist strategy: "If we just water down progressivism a little more and keep doing what’s already failing, victory is assured!" A masterclass in political denialism.

Look at what the centrists are already saying: they do not swim against the tide of history, they surf upon it to power and glory. And it is pretty fucking clear which way the tide is flowing, isn’t it.

Afghanistan, austerity, Johnson and Brexit. The state can’t function without collaborative campaigns of lying to the public and the examples are only getting more frequent and egregious.

Said it on numerous occasions. The lies, obfuscation, gaslighting, distortion and widescale media disregard over Gaza finds its direct precedent in Iraq. Not a single guilty person of note faced any negative consequences from Iraq and neither will any from the current catastrophe

If only there had been some indication that Starmer and the Labour right would gladly lie like fuck to one audience after another in pursuit of self-interested goals that they keep to themselves. But sadly

This should be treated as a national scandal. More than 1 in 3 children are now living in poverty in the UK as deprivation levels rise to the highest in the 21st century. https://t.co/2nm4vHFcvs

He’s talking about mental health care in particular but really, it’s not that “the pie” is smaller, it’s that you don’t really matter so you will get less and less, and unlike the wealthy, there is very little you can do about it by yourself.

Al Jazeera finds the UK has flown nearly half the reconnaissance missions over Gaza since the genocide began. This is more than double Israel itself. Britain is a participant and leads in providing intelligence for the genocide. This has never been reported in a UK newspaper.

- Prisons cause recidivism - Punishment doesn't work - Public health approaches to harm/violence do work Your understanding of abolition seems to begin and end at defund the police - which has absolutely no relevance in the UK abolitionist thought.
