This means a lot to me. I have been reading @Yair_Rosenberg for a long time. So glad he enjoyed The Shylock and the Shakespeareans.
Critics have long defended Shakespeare's antisemitic play, The Merchant of Venice, by claiming it humanizes its Jewish antagonist, Shylock. I wrote about a new staging of it that rejects these apologetics and makes Shakespeare the villain of his own play:

What’s infuriating is not just that this person is justifying the murder of Jews on Yom Kippur, but that this and many of her colleagues who are joining in this hate fest are treated like respected academics. Hate mongering, pure and simple.
