Tonight, Trump is hosting the White House Hanukkah party. Hanukkah is next week. In an early holiday miracle, this Trump tweet lasted for six years and came back to burn him.
The director of the main synagogue in Odessa tearfully bids goodbye to the synagogue, asks people to pray for them as they evacuate during the Jewish Sabbath:
Interesting Biden line from today:
"There comes a time maybe every 6, 8 generations where the world changes in a very short time. We are at that time now, and I think what happens in the next 2-3 years is going to determine what the world looks like for the next 5 or 6 decades."
Whoa: The White House is circulating a video which it claims shows a cache of antifa bricks, but the image is actually just a year-old security barrier set up by the Chabad Jewish center in Sherman Oaks to prevent anti-Semitic car ramming attacks.
The White House is falsely claiming that the anti-ramming security barriers outside the Chabad Jewish community centre in Sherman Oaks are actually weapons placed by "Antifa and professional anarchists".
Firing journalists over things they wrote as students, without any evidence of bias that's affected their professional work, won't make journalism better, it'll simply make student journalists more afraid to develop their voices and say anything interesting lest they anger a mob.
Tonight, Trump is hosting the White House Hanukkah party. Hanukkah is in almost two weeks. In an early holiday miracle, this Trump tweet lasted for eight years and came back to burn him.
This is what Putin's "denazification" looks like: the evacuation of one of the world's most historic Jewish communities while the Russian army hunts down Ukraine's Jewish president
The director of the main synagogue in Odessa tearfully bids goodbye to the synagogue, asks people to pray for them as they evacuate during the Jewish Sabbath:
Kanye's tweets exemplify why antisemitism is so hard to uproot: it’s a self-affirming conspiracy theory. The antisemite claims that Jews control everything. Then, if they're penalized for their bigotry, they point to that as proof. Heads they win, tails Jews lose.
There's nothing wrong with a Palestinian flag. Palestinians are not collectively responsible for what Hamas, a theocratic regime that murders and jails its Palestinian critics, does. People of any background who defend, obfuscate or celebrate what Hamas did are another story.

The vaccine clinical trials for kids had 5 adverse events, none of them related to the vaccine. One kid swallowed a penny, which is exactly (and hilariously) what you'd expect during a trial that includes 5-year-olds.
Musk is not going to sue the ADL (he'd lose) anymore than he was going to cage fight Mark Zuckerberg (he'd lose). At this point, no media outlet should be uncritically parroting the bombastic things Musk randomly says on Twitter and then never follows through on.
The antisemitic gaslight, in three steps:
"It’s not happening. You're paranoid."
"It's fringe, stop pretending it's significant."
"Well, what did you expect? I may not like it but it's understandable."
This is literally the conspiracy theory espoused by the white supremacist who massacred the Pittsburgh Tree of Life synagogue. Musk approves.
I have no further commentary.
Verified users on Twitter are not "blue checkmarks." The checkmarks are white.
Warren is not taking selfies with people, because she is not taking the photos herself. They are just plain photos.

OK Jews, now that the gentiles are finally gone, it's time to discuss Phase Gimel of the grand plan. Please take out your decoder dreidels and open your Protocols.
If Democrats just picked candidates who followed in Obama's footsteps and didn't weirdly ignore his legacy or treat his presidency as some sort of failure, they'd win a lot more. It worked for Joe Biden! Just be Obama Democrats.
An incredibly powerful moment at the end of the memorial ceremony at Yad Vashem as

Biden gets down on one knee to speak to two Holocaust survivors.
What this interview actually says is that 9-year-old Hamas hostage Emily Hand now tries to get others to eat before her, saying "do it for me," imitating the *older hostages* who fed her first when food was scarce. She wasn't imitating Hamas, as this deeply creepy tweet claims.
🇮🇱 Emily (9) after she was released by

:
“When she eats, she offers me and everyone first.
So she offers me even if I tell her I don’t want. She goes “eat some, for me.”
I asked if they (Hamas) suggested eating together & offer food to those more hungry. She nodded yes.”
I don't think people understand just how much straight-up denial about Hamas has been circulating on social media. Plenty of people have been duped into thinking they didn't kill or kidnap civilians at all. When people get their news from social media silos, this is the result.
This morning we encountered a woman who had removed the kidnapped posters from the bridge leading to Primrose Hill, London. When we confronted her, she replied that she was taking them down because she didn't believe that Hamas had actually kidnapped all these people.
What so many who interrogate American Jews about their Israel views do not get is that most American Jews do not think much about Israel, because they are *Americans* with American concerns who do not define themselves by what's happening somewhere thousands of miles away.
Folks, there is a squirrel outside our family's home in Queens that somehow acquired an ENTIRE CHALLAH ROLL and shlepped it all the way up into its tree. Let this Jewish hero's indomitable spirit be an inspiration to all of us this Rosh Hashana and new year.
If you're paying attention, you've probably realized by now that Jewish people are currently being assailed from every direction, from high and low places. At some point, society is going to have to decide if this is an acceptable new normal or not. It's out of Jews's hands.
My favorite part of the season is watching clueless news outlets hilariously quote people by their Halloween names on Twitter rather than their real ones:
Folks, which is more likely:
a) Trump used the FBI to rig an election for DeSantis in Florida, and nobody in the press or state government noticed or cared
b) Trump is lying
Consider your answer, then consider what you amplify on social media.
Straightforward from here:
1) Kamala to Supreme Court
2) Appoint Putin as Vice President, averting war
3) Impeach Putin as Vice President, averting having Putin as Vice President
4) Replace Putin with an NFT of FDR
5) Inflation solved
Odessa was once had the third largest Jewish population in the world. Then came pogroms, Stalin's purges, and the Nazi Holocaust. The city, once half Jewish, had fallen to 6 percent Jewish by the time the Soviet Union collapsed. And now this.
The director of the main synagogue in Odessa tearfully bids goodbye to the synagogue, asks people to pray for them as they evacuate during the Jewish Sabbath:
Powerful pro-vaccination PSA today from Orthodox rabbis in New York: "The ribono shel olam [creator of the world] has given us a precious gift. It's called the covid-19 vaccine." "Unvaccinated people die! They die." "What's the shaylah [question] over here? Are we playing games?"
It’s a common misconception that anti-Semitism is just a personal prejudice towards Jewish people. It’s not. It’s also a conspiracy theory about how the entire world works. Which is why it ropes in conspiracy theorists of all ideologies and backgrounds.
So, uh, when do we start talking about how Jared Polis just did to Colorado what DeSantis did to Florida? Dominated a once purple state by nearly 20 points and pulled the entire party up with him.

Jews didn't put up posters of kidnapped Jewish kids b/c they sneakily want to entrap gentiles into doing bad things, like removing them. Jews aren't responsible for non-Jews doing bad stuff! The constant reflex to cast us as manipulators & offload responsibility onto us is… bad.
A Tennessee school board voted to drop the Pulitzer prize-winning graphic novel MAUS, which tells the story of the Holocaust with cartoon mice, because it contained inappropriate words and imagery. I wish them luck in their quest for wholesome, family-friendly Holocaust content.
The meeting minutes are here:
As far as I can tell, somehow the biggest problem in the book "Maus" is that the words "damn" and "bitch" are used and that there is... mouse nudity?
This is a really important thread on how bad actors use fake outrage bait on social media to foment social discord. Don't fall for it. Be wary of bizarre tweets from anonymous randos designed to push your buttons and play to your biases.
Use the internet. Don't let it use you.
This viral tweet complaining about the Little Mermaid casting being racist has a profile pic stolen from an Instagram model. The “half black best friend” pic is taken from god knows where, but shows up in a bunch of Pinterest BFF roundups
This is Nick Fuentes. He is a white supremacist anti-Semite. That's not Twitter hyperbole, just a straight-up description. Here he is smilingly denying the Holocaust:
1. "Joe Biden is a vegetable"
2. Joe Biden does something a vegetable couldn't do
3. "Joe Biden is on drugs" <- YOU ARE HERE
4. New Hunter Biden news cycle
Intense Biden pressure on this gets results: Netanyahu forced publicly reject Gazan displacement and Israeli reoccupation, against the far-right parties in his own coalition. This will undermine that coalition, which as I've written, is Biden's point:
"I want to make a few points absolutely clear:
Israel has no intention of permanently occupying Gaza or displacing its civilian population.
Israel is fighting Hamas terrorists, not the Palestinian population, and we are doing so in full compliance with international law.
Reminder: If you're somehow only able to spot and call out anti-Semitism and anti-Semitic tropes when they come from your political opponents, you don't actually care about anti-Semitism. You just like using it to your political advantage.
Don't be that person.
They're going to keep saying Hamas didn't rape anyone because the authorities and media understandably refuse to publicly air the graphic evidence. These people want to revictimize those who are already dead and compel their families to parade their unfathomable pain.
"We're all going to die here." My friend
@amirtibon
spent a harrowing 10 hours barricaded in his home's safe room with his wife and young daughters, as men with guns hunted them, before an extraordinary rescue. He told me his story. Please read it.
74-year-old Vivian Silver, the Israeli peace activist and leader of Women Wage Peace, was thought kidnapped in Gaza. They only just identified her body, five weeks after she was killed. Read about her life's work, and may her memory be a blessing to all:
צער ואבל כבד.
ויויאן סילבר נרצחה בביתה בבארי.
רק היום זיהו את הגופה שלה.
אישה של חמלה ואנושיות ומחויבות אינסופיים, עמוקים ומתמשכים לשותפות יהודית-ערבית ולשלום.

עוד קורבן מיותר של מחדל בלתי נתפס
The discourse over the Trump indictment on here in a nutshell:
"And then he bought the garbage bag."
"Oh, so now it's a crime to buy garbage bags!"
"No, it is a crime to use them to dispose of the body. Did you just stop reading before that?"
As you watch Kanye use "Zionists" as a lazy code for Jews, I hope you will remember it later, because he is far from the only one who does this. Antisemitism regularly wraps itself in respectable euphemisms, which helps it spread with plausible deniability.
"For Jews, this is a no-win scenario: If they stay silent, the anti-Semitism continues unabated; if they speak up, and their assailant is penalized by non-Jewish society, anti-Semites feel affirmed. Heads, the bigots win; tails, Jews lose."
@benshapiro
1. Did you miss Trump's speech on January 6, among others?
2. What Biden actually said: "I want to be very clear up front: Not every Republican -- not even a majority of Republicans -- are MAGA Republicans. Not every Republican embraces their extreme ideology."
Biden has gaffed names his entire career. In 2008, he introduced his running mate as "the next president of the United States, Barack America." He was clearly talking about Egypt, named Sisi, and laid out his policy and the broader issues in detail. Twitter just isn't interested.
Last night at the White House, a little girl interrupted the closing music for the Biden's Hanukkah party speech to ask him "How do I become president?" He took back the mic and answered: "Know who you want to help, and know what you'd rather lose the election than do."
The contrast between Biden walking into the NYT's elevator and being told "I love you so much" by the working class African American woman in it, then getting dismissed by the NYT editorial board, is a perfect microcosm of this entire campaign.
Because of the Jewish holiday, I was offline for the first two days of the current horror, so I missed some of the worst of this, but I've seen the vitriol that my Muslim friends have received. Talking about Muslims the way Hamas talks about Jews will help no one, and hurt many.
A reminder that if your first response to an anti-Semitic attack is to criticize members of the Jewish community over their response to anti-Semitism or Israel or anything else, you are part of the problem.
Anti-Semitism isn't a Jewish problem. It's everyone else's problem.
Half of Israeli Jews are brown Middle Eastern Jews who were driven out Arab and Muslim lands where their families had lived for centuries. As ever, Americans projecting our own problems onto those of other countries does not help us understand those problems or solve them.
BiPoC see Black and Brown bodies destroyed they respond.
YT people. See yt bodies destroyed. They respond.
Who gets targeted. Who gets to be called terrorists or violent or not human? Who gets to be individuals?
The idea that Trump is an ally against anti-Semitism has never squared with what comes out of his unscripted mouth. Here he is going full dual loyalty, after pretending to care when Ilhan Omar raised the same tropes.
I normally wouldn't share stuff like this, but people should understand that the blue check here means this person is not only sharing rabid antisemitism, but monetizing it. The boosted bluecheck replies are filled with anti-Jewish invective that would fit right into Der Stürmer.
It’s now almost certain the tunnels found at the Chabad synagogue in Brooklyn were designed for child sex tracking.
This footage released shows the Jewish synagogue had dystopian tunnels made with stained mattresses that have been sent for forensic analysis.
Items such as baby…
Allah is just Arabic for God. The fact that a high schooler felt comfortable weaving her own tradition's word for God into the American pledge of allegiance is a tribute to America at its best. These people criticizing her are America at its worst.
Newsmax panel melts down over a high school student saying “Allah” during the Pledge of Allegiance
"It's un-American, it's unpatriotic, and it's, quite frankly, upsetting"
1. I finally wrote my unified theory of Trump's anti-Semitism. Why does someone w/ Jewish family & friends regularly say anti-Semitic things? The short version: Trump believes all the anti-Semitic stereotypes about Jews, but sees those traits as admirable.
FYI, if you start a reply to me with "You Jews" and it does not end with "have done a real service to this country through your outsized contribution to the ice cream industry," I will probably block you.
You will be shocked to discover that Steve King, who endorsed a fringe anti-Semite for Toronto mayor and repeats openly white nationalist talking points, has misidentified Alex Soros, son of George Soros, as the whistleblower, despite him never working in government.
Say it with me:
If your response to anti-Semitism in your own political camp is to point to anti-Semitism in your opponent's political camp, you don't really care about fighting anti-Semitism. You just like using hate as a politically convenient cudgel to serve your own ends.
Whenever something antisemitic happens in the culture, there's a well-meaning call to "study the Holocaust" or follow, say, the Auschwitz Museum on Twitter. But people need most to learn about learn how Jews live, not how they died. Who they are—not what antisemites say they are.
If someone wanted to do some genuine good in the world, they'd cut this into a simple ad and run it on Fox News and targeting Trump voters on Facebook. Boosters are the best defense against Omicron, and everyone deserves that chance.
OK everyone, now that the gentiles are gone, it’s time to commence the Jew Coup. You all have your instructions. Remember to report to 4chanukah for debriefing.
A lot of people are unfamiliar with recent Gaza developments and so do not know that Israel accepted the Paris framework for a truce/hostage deal but Hamas has not. As a result, they completely misunderstand what Harris is saying, which is that Hamas should say yes to the deal.
There are people tweeting out that the VP called for an immediate ceasefire without noting the second part…that she’s putting the onus on Hamas.
As a result, people who don’t dig deeper think there’s been a significant shift from the White House….there hasn’t been.
Why Twitter will always be broken & mislead millions:
1. People prefer the joy of going viral or having their political biases confirmed to being truthful
2. There are no formal or informal consequences for sharing comforting lies
3. So incentives all run in the worst direction
Non-Jews don't get to decide who is a good Jew and who is a bad Jew. Non-Jews who make lists of bad Jews and suggest that Jews who don't share their particular ideology aren't real Jews are not friends of the Jews. They're the people who make it easy to attack and persecute Jews.
These takes have gotten so extraordinarily ignorant that normie offline people have shared them with me because the tweets achieved escape velocity in their awfulness. (At least half of Israeli Jews today are Mizrahim who hail from Muslim and Arab countries that pushed them out.)
Here's one reason why social media is such a vector for misinformation: It's hard to go viral with so many voices talking at once. One way to cut through the noise and get attention is to say something no one else is saying. It's a lot easier to do that if you just make stuff up.
Important that the BBC blurred this person's face because saying something like this about Hamas in Gaza is extraordinarily dangerous. A reminder that the terrorist regime does not represent so many of the people on the ground, whatever you might read on this site.
Hamas was elected in 2006 and has never allowed another election since. They never won a majority of the votes, and most of the Gazan population today was too young to be eligible to vote in 2006.
Congressman Paul Gosar, in his official newsletter this week, linked to an article praising him in a neo-Nazi site. And we know that he *knew* it was antisemitic because he removed the antisemitic part from the headline!
Remarkably disingenuous thread that blames Israel/Zionism for killing Yiddish instead of the people who killed most Jewish Yiddish speakers: the Nazis. This site always finds a way to sink to new lows for partisan ends.
some more info on this 🧵:
hebrew has been a liturgical (used only in religious contexts) language since its 'extinction' in the year 200 CE. this is why jewish communities around the world have their own languages (incl. yiddish, ladino, judeo-arabic). prior to the zionist (1/6)
For years,
@bariweiss
has been methodically building a media machine to challenge the one she left, and this just makes it official. Suspect its reporting down the line will end up being far more influential than the Twitter Files:
On the right, there's a perpetual effort to assail American Jews for supporting "anti-Israel" Democrats. On the left, there's a perpetual effort to make American Jews in progressive spaces answer for Israel. These are both racist constructs that collapse all Jews into a monolith.
What so many who interrogate American Jews about their Israel views do not get is that most American Jews do not think much about Israel, because they are *Americans* with American concerns who do not define themselves by what's happening somewhere thousands of miles away.
Yair is a biblical name that is popular across multiple countries and religions. I am an American Jew named after an ancestor killed in the Holocaust. I feel lucky to be an American, where my name has not been a barrier to success, despite the abiding bigotry of people like you.
