President Johnson ordered the National Guard to protect civil rights protesters marching from Selma to Montgomery. More than fifty years later, President Trump is deploying troops to trample on the constitutional rights of Americans to engage in peaceful protest. Shameful.

Over the past months, I've been barnstorming Vermont to rally the public around an agenda for affordable, community-based public education and health care from Barre to Westford to Hardwick to Cabot. Next up is Sustainability Academy in Burlington on Saturday morning.

My thoughts in @vtdigger: Westford is a small school with sustainable class sizes that should not be closed. Mass consolidation, abolishing most of the democratic school boards, and increasing class sizes will undermine public education in rural Vermont.
