It’s a Selwyn tradition that we invite students to design the college Christmas card – and we’re delighted to share this year’s winning entry. It’s a painting of the chapel & one of our visiting foxes, and it's by Frances Dixon who is a fourth-year student of veterinary medicine.
Our alumnus
@hughlaurie
was installed as an honorary fellow of Selwyn in a ceremony in chapel. This recognises his extraordinary achievements as an actor, writer and musician.
The Selwyn choir are continuing to work with alumnus

The scene in Old Court this afternoon when the coffin of our late master Sir David Harrison was brought out of chapel after a funeral service. Selwyn fellows formed a guard of honour across the lawn as Sir David made his final journey.
Congratulations to Selwyn’s organ scholar
@adamfield02
, who has passed his Fellowship Diploma of the Royal College of Organists (FRCO). This is the most advanced qualification available to organists, and it’s highly unusual for it to be awarded to undergraduates.
We are pleased to see that all visitors are complying with the request to enter via one of the main gates and to make sure the porters are aware of their arrival.

We are delighted to announce that the Rev'd Dr

Congratulations to Selwyn and
@Cambridge_Uni
alumna Sophie Wilson who has been made a CBE in the Queen’s birthday honours. Sophie is a pioneer in computing, and her ARM processor powers almost every phone and tablet in the world.
One of our favourite places for a photograph - in the lower gardens behind the pond - and this is how Selwyn
@Cambridge_Uni
is looking this Monday January 2nd.
The flag is flying at half mast today to mark the death of our porter Andrew Bennett. We will miss his cheerfulness, his professionalism - and the conversations about his beloved Cambridge United. RIP.
We have a new resident at Selwyn ahead of the start of the new academic year. Isla, aged 18 months and great-niece of YoYo, has come to live in the Master’s Lodge.

After a new fellow is installed at Selwyn, they are welcomed individually by all the rest of the fellowship. These photos show the greetings for our alumnus
@hughlaurie
after he officially became an honorary fellow of the college on December 13th.
Selwyn College can confirm that, in line with its long-term policy of a bias to divestment from fossil fuels, it has now sold all its direct shareholdings in the sector. The decision was taken by our investment committee and approved yesterday by the college council.
Many congratulations to Selwyn &
@Cambridge_Uni
alumnus - and college Honorary Fellow -
@hughlaurie
who has been appointed CBE in the New Year Honours list.
It wasn’t quite the weather we’d hoped for to accompany the chapel garden party…
This is how the chaplain’s family made their way around Old Court for the final choral evensong of the academic year.
The latest
@Cambridge_Uni

We liked seeing this over Selwyn just now. We gather we owe thanks to
@Catz_Cambridge
- but it was good to share the love for all
@Cambridge_Uni
graduands.
With great sadness, the college announces the death of its former master Sir David Harrison at the age of 92.
Sir David had an association with Selwyn that lasted for more than half the college’s entire existence. He arrived here as an undergraduate in 1950. (1/3)

Lining up in Old Court for today’s
@Cambridge_Uni
MA graduation. The year groups are from 2013 and 2014, whose ceremonies were previously postponed. Congratulations to them all!
Today should have been our MA graduation and a 2013 year group reunion. The college flag would have been flying for a
@Cambridge_Uni
Congregation, so porters Helen Arnold & Kevin Sargent took the flag out anyway - as a promise it will fly above Selwyn again before too long.
Congratulations to Dr Janet O'Sullivan,
@cambridgelaw
academic and vice-master of Selwyn, who is publishing the 10th edition of her textbook on ‘The Law of Contract’.
