The National Audit Office has told me that Ministers have refused to give them the sign off to undertake an inquiry at Teesside Freeport. This decision is preventing Parliament from doing its work and I’ll be raising this with the Government when the House returns on Monday.
Today, we on @CommonsBTC agreed to launch an inquiry on the performance of investment zones and freeports in England. Given the reported issues at Teesside Freeport, I have asked the @NAOorguk to undertake a thorough investigation to assist us in our work. 👇
