Subjective Differences Between Baseball & Javelin. A few of the fellas have already discussed some of the similarities and differences between javelin & baseball and I wanted to highlight a few of the upper half demands that have been particularly important for me to learn

5ļøāƒ£ Have other hobbies. I spent 3 years thinking about baseball 24/7. Beneficial? Yes. But I had no idea what else I enjoyed. Burnout is real—find things outside baseball that bring you joy. Make it a priority to live a more well-rounded life.

4ļøāƒ£ Show your work & be helpful. I learned a lot from creating this twitter and the devinhayesbaseball IG account. Instead of continuously tweeting about what MLB guys should do, or how you could fix them, go out and help a local HS, JUCO, etc.

3ļøāƒ£ Don’t be afraid to DM people & ask questions. I still remember messaging @ian_walsh11 , @Berticushill , @doublexcanflex and others in 2018 trying to learn whatever I could while I was still in Vermont training solo.

Lessons learned:. 1ļøāƒ£ It takes what it takes. No shortcuts. At this point, everyone knows "pitch design"—bring more to the table (learn Spanish, code, CSCS, etc.).

2024 - My first full season in pro ball. I saw everything I wished I had as a player and more. I traveled, learned from a ton of people within different domains and witness a team that make the playoffs for the first time in a decade, rekindling my love for the game.

2023 - I missed being on the field. I reached out to @john_derouin22 and told him I wanted to get into professional ball. Being the stellar Northeast guy he is, he pushed for me, and I landed with the Tigers.

2021-23 - I watched Tread grow from a tiny office to 50+ employees & 1000+ athletes. I was surrounded by the smartest baseball minds and best athletes I’d ever been around. The company accelerated my learning curve more than I imagined.

2020 (Part 3) - Not many know, but I got hired to @TreadHQ as a salesman. I applied twice as a coach—rejected both times. I kept talking to Ben & Coan and convinced them I’d be a good hire. I moved to Charlotte to help with business, but after a few weeks got into coaching.

2020 (Part 2) - COVID hits. Middlebury shuts down. I kept training, throwing into a net. Doing this provides some type of direction for me and gives me something to focus on.

2020 (Part 1) - Spent my 2nd year at Middlebury coaching outfielders, running S&C, managing the team instagram, and working the weight room front desk—where I read the entire CSCS textbook. I wanted to learn everything about player development for myself and others.

2019 - Coached at Middlebury, played for the Irish National Team in Dublin & Bulgaria, then got a shot at Indy Ball. I spent a few weeks living with @Colbasaur08 mom and dad and made one start. Kept the note I had written in my wallet as a reminder of the long-term goal.

2018 - Home in Vermont, I was throwing at Middlebury College. One day, the head coach (one of my coaching mentors) came up to me:. ā€œI see you in here every day. Our assistant coach is leaving—want to help with the outfielders?ā€. Thought it would be fun (& needed $) so I said yes.

End of 2017 - I had just graduated from Castleton University with a Sports Admin degree, minoring in Math, Stats & Business. I had one goal. Play pro ball. Inspired by a Jim Carrey’s manifestation story, I wrote the goal down and put it in my wallet.

Throwback to 2021 when @strmeckih14 set our facility exit velocity record at 116.6 mph . (That was broken by a multi time MLB MVP a couple days later, sorry Hank) . Current record sits at 118.4 mph, but that's a post for another day

The Chicago Cubs are hiring Tyler Zombro as a special assistant, sources tell ESPN. Zombro, 30, has become one of baseball’s preeminent pitching trainers at Tread Athletics, and he’ll work in all areas of Chicago’s organization to help improve the performance of the Cubs’ arms.
