Is now a good time to post this paper “Modernizarion and Gender Equality: It’s Complicated”? @Carissa_Tudor and I argue that the move toward liberal democracy actually decreased women’s rights in some European countries. Apparently we can go back. https://t.co/4hNAwmWAue

Care of the Current Population Survey: Women (R)egister and (T)urnout at higher rates than men. In 2020: AZ women surged; GA too. NV was still weird with lower turnout overall (& NV has fewer Boomer+ women, and more gen-Z men). NC has a rebound to make from 2020.

I think from now on the entire presidential election should last only 100 days.

Here is the Republican Gender Gap (Vote Intention) for each generation of voters since 1948 from the ANES. The Silent Generation and above are 80+ today. There are lots of women in the Boomer group, and they have consistently voted more left of men in their age cohort.

In almost all states with abortion on the ballot, women in the Boomer+ category are the largest electoral group. Nevada is the state where Gen Z men's preferences might dwarf women's. @womensmarch #MarchForward #WeWontGoBack

Your Morning Election Demographics Post: Women are a larger share of the population in 5 of 7 swing sates plus IOWA. Nevada is the only swing state with (slightly) more men. Boomer+ ladies (born <1964) are the largest group in the electorate. (Source: Census 2023 estimates)

PSA: In countries like Chile and Argentina when they extended the vote to women in the mid-20th century conservative parties pushed to set up separate polling stations so that husbands *could not* control wives' votes.

me : election :: Cady Heron : Regina George. I am a woman possessed; I spend about 80% of my time talking about the election, and the other 20% of the time praying for someone else to bring it up so I can talk about it more. https://t.co/Y3x9Jh7DQW

This. I heard the same thing in Nevada. Vote by mail may repress women’s choice if their husbands stand over them and watch their choice. @gronke
One reason pollsters might be failing to pick up what and Seltzer picked up in Iowa, is a lot of women are afraid to say they are voting for Harris. Sharing stories yesterday after knocking doors in Pennsylvania, can't tell you the number of canvassers who had wives standing in

LADY BOOMERS! @jaselzer @womensmarch have we under-estimated you? women 65+ have shifted left since 2015, and are >50% of the age group. BUT their turnout lags men in their group, making their vote share lower than pop share. LFG. #WeWontGoBack #KamalaHarris2024
