Characterization of two co-regulated response regulators in Clostridioides difficile | Journal of Bacteriology
journals.asm.org
Two-component systems are nearly ubiquitous among bacteria and are one of the primary ways that bacteria respond to their environment. Atypical two-component proteins and systems are being identified...

Analysis of essential genes in Clostridioides difficile by CRISPRi and Tn-seq | Journal of Bacteriology
journals.asm.org
Clostridioides difficile is an opportunistic pathogen for which better antibiotics are sorely needed. Most antibiotics target pathways that are essential for viability. Here, we use saturation...

As featured at the Great Wall Symposium recently. Might have to revise my lectures on vancomycin resistance….
This antibiotic is EVG7, developed by Nathaniel Martin's lab @UniLeiden and the study was led by postdoc Elma Mons.

In this article we describe a mechanism that regulates the progression of DNA replication when bacterial cells encounter nutrient poor conditions. Excellent work by @Surbhi_Yadav_ supported by @arnabshau @ChackoFeby @India_Alliance @IISERPune

Surbhi et al. report that a conserved AAA+ ATPase, IncA, whose production is enhanced in nutrient-poor conditions, is required to inhibit DNA replication progression by delocalizing the β-sliding...

The mechanistic question is why? Is it because Xeruborbactam has low activity in its own against selected PBPs in contrast to other DBOs in Pa? DBOs inhibit b-lactamases and PBP2 (elongation) in contrast to beta lactams that hit PBP3 (division).
🆕💫Efficacy of cefiderocol in combination with xeruborbactam versus taniborbactam against cefiderocol-R NDM-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa Taniborbactam restored cefiderocol susceptibility in most isolates(20/21, 95.2%),while xeruborbactam had no effect https://t.co/QTp9gMPoIJ

New from Chris Sham at NUS: Dual transposon sequencing profiles the genetic interaction landscape in bacteria | Science
science.org
Gene redundancy complicates systematic characterization of gene function as single-gene deletions may not produce discernible phenotypes. We report dual transposon sequencing (dual Tn-seq), a...
