On 26th January 1944, 2nd Lt. Lester Lowry, a 23-year-old pilot from Pennsylvania, USA, was flying his P-47 Thunderbolt “Lucky Boy” when it crashed in Essex. Witnesses saw his aircraft dive into the ground, and Lowry was not seen to bail out. He has remained Missing in Action
