Oh look, I’m pointing excitedly at a radio station logo. It must mean... some news.
I'm joining
@TimesRadio
for a new show. Saturday and Sunday - 10pm-1am.
News, interesting guests and intelligent insight from people in the know.
It’s a special place and I can’t wait.
The BBC are setting up shortwave radio frequencies for the people of Ukraine to keep informed with the news as their TV towers are bombed and internet services attacked.
You don’t get that with a Netflix subscription.
Huw Edwards has just spent four long days anchoring rolling covering of a change of Prime Minister and the death of the monarch… and he has barely dropped a syllable. A national treasure.
Channel 4 is a brilliantly British idea. The people’s channel, duty bound to make programmes others won’t, bat for the underdog and fear nobody. And it costs us nothing.
Yet the government are selling it off. They say they love Britain, and then tear the best bits of it apart.
Jesy leaving Little Mix tells a generation of young fans that that stopping, stepping away and saying no when you need to is OK. There is nothing brave about battling on when you need to take a break.
So when Jordan and I missed Mo Farah win gold at the Olympics because we watched a film instead, we made a pact that we wouldn’t tell anybody.
Never did I imagine he would TELL MO FARAH on NATIONAL TELEVISION. Ffs.

’ son.
She left him on the steps of Downing Street today in protest at plans to close some schools on a Friday afternoon.
What an image. All the marketing agencies in the world couldn’t have come up with such genius 👏🏻
If you feel uncomfortable about Joe Lycett shredding £10,000, that’s exactly the point.
It’s a statement on discomfort and money: at Qatar’s oppression of gay people and David Beckham profiting from them.
It’s performance art. It’s supposed to make you feel.

Everybody will have a take on Gareth Southgate in the next few days but history will judge him as a man who detoxified and redefined English football, national pride and masculinity.
And we got a final, semi final and quarter final for good measure.
Thank you, Gareth ❤️
I see the angry white men of Twitter have decided Dave is wrong about his experiences of racism as a young back lad. That’s that sorted then. Cheers fellas.

An audience of people, in 2005, angry that they have to see a GP within 48 hours of asking for an appointment. Angry about it.
The current government target is 14 days.
Careful what you wish for.
“Take twice as long to do half as much”
It’s the funeral of broadcaster Gary Burgess today. He bravely recorded a video before he died, sharing what he had learnt in his dying weeks. It’s a must watch. Slow down.
Great idea from a bar in Manchester.
They have a stage for bands but can’t put live music on, so they’re recording them in the daytime and putting them on the screens in the evening. The bands get paid and live music plays in the bar. Win, win.

This is the menu for the member’s dining room in Parliament.
It is subsidised, costing us around £4.4m. Look how cheap it is.
Yesterday, these people voted to refuse free meals to feed hungry children over Christmas. We’re living in a Dickens novel. And not a very good one.

You’ve knowingly whipped your fan base into a hateful pile-on. This isn’t the behaviour of an official club account. Have some grace. Have some dignity.

This is the Pale Blue Dot - the furthest image ever taken of Earth.

It’s been under-appreciated, sneered and sniggered at for years. Then this morning, one by one, BBC local radio stations held Liz Truss to account and skewered her with world-class journalism.
BBC Local Radio is the best of Britain. Long live BBC Local Radio.

Don't let a holiday company tell you how to feel.

This is the chairwoman of our football club, holding the hand of the Mum of one of our players - she was diagnosed with MND - at a charity game organised to help her, for which the town and a bunch of our former players came out to support.
This… is our football club ❤️

King of the north.
King of our hearts.
King of the castle.
This couldn’t be happening to somebody more deserving. He’s earned every bit of being in the final. One more push.

Turns out, as an adult, you can just buy an Easter egg whenever you want. And then you can just eat it. And nobody stops you. Even if it’s not Easter. I did it today. I thought: I’m going to buy and eat this Easter egg. And I did.
Just letting you know.
My Grandparents have had their first jab.
They've been at home since March. They haven't moaned and they haven't made a fuss. They have stayed in with a quiet dignity and a resolve to protect themselves and others.
They are the best of us. I love them with all my heart.
Joe Lycett has done more serious political commentary in a few minutes of being daft than most of the Westminster clique have in weeks. Where we are is ridiculous and it deserves ridicule.
Hello fellow chaps.
Look, no, it isn’t all men. Most men aren’t violent criminals… but most violent criminals are men.
It might not be *you* but it is *us*.
We can pretend this isn’t our problem... or we can talk to each other, listen, play our part and help make it better.
Since moving to London from my beloved North I’ve found myself being aggressively nice and chatty.
Want some peace on the tube? TOUGH, WE’RE TALKING.

Contrast that with knife crime. A black lad from Croydon stabs somebody & it's a black problem for that community to solve. A black lad from Croydon rises to headline Glastonbury & we all get to own it?
We say - you must own your failures but we'll claim your successes?
Hey. I've made a documentary.
It's called Dark Patterns - and it's all about the manipulative tricks some websites use to make us click, buy and subscribe.
