today i learned the vcg mechanism is not dominant strategy incentive compatible.
there is, there is no set of alternative private goods to spend it on. But no one knows what things they will be pivotal on. If the system lets people commit (in some contingency) more currency than they have, then the system becomes completely gameable and people.

@AmOptimistShow This remains a fact today. A recent HS valedictorian(scholar of scholars, not just valedictorian) crushed a 36 ACT, 5.0GPA, 5s on every AP exam, including a long list of stem fields. This from a HS of nearly 800 students. Got rejected by every last Ivy. Too White.
