Agree that a new Bell Labs would be wonderful. Many have tried and failed. SpaceX is the modern equivalent -- a no holds barred, work 'til you drop interdisciplinary organization that is already changing the world (Starlink) and will change it much more profoundly in the years
Counter point: bell labs did basic research and it was funded by corporation. We need a new gen bell labs. @beffjezos Which company do think is the bell labs of 21st century? Meta ? Tesla? Google x?

Maybe the most amazing microscope paper of the year just dropped: Live 4pi-SIM (a.k.a I5S*): https://t.co/RJale5ulmK Having worked with Mats Gustafsson, I can attest that this is both extremely hard, but also extremely cool! Kudos to the authors! * https://t.co/ysoGgXIlF7

Beware of applying computer-vision metrics to microscopy image of biological samples. At best, you fool only yourself. @SuperResoluSian #I2K2024 #BioImageAnalysis
