New paper 📣. W/@JessicaRingrose @cambazogluidil @Betsymilne_ We talked to boy’s (aged 13-14) about misogynist Andrew Tate, to explore his appeal. We found Tate’s content plays on boy’s fears about their masculinity and future in a confected gender war

you can laugh all you like at my job title, I honestly don’t care - it’s an amazing job, hugely rewarding, puts food on the table, and every day I make small and big differences to an ancient discipline, my students’ lives, and society - I’m so happy to have it as a career 🙏😊

Thank goodness the media understand that someone mixing up the name of the chess award they won when they were 13 is much more worthy of investigation than someone doing Nazi salutes and saying "Hitler was right" to Jewish pupils.

As a neuroscientist, here are 7 ways to trick your brain into doing difficult things: 1. Shrink the task to just two minutes. Your brain resists big commitments. So don't make one. - "Work out" → do one exercise. - "Clean the house" → pick up three items.

The Budget. Reeves never once said she was going to raise income tax, she even denied it on BBC 1!, It was the media that said that she would. Now they are upset she hasn't raised income tax. It's just fake rage and designed to get the frothy mouthed slack jawed idiot brigade

What an ugly time this is. Trans women banned from everything. Zero resistance from a cowardly wet Labour Government, chasing Right Wing votes. Racism for trans people. ⁦@Keir_Starmer⁩ ⁦@bphillipsonMP⁩ ⁦@wesstreeting⁩ . Fuckers.

How many trans girls were even part of girlguiding? When has this ever caused a genuine issue?? This just feels like giving into bigots making up problems, and further alienating a marginalised group.

In 2012, I was diagnosed w/ AIDS and feared imminent death. Today I toured an HIV Cure research laboratory live on TikTok and shared the hope for a cure with our community. And until a cure comes, I’m thankful for the medication that keeps me alive and healthy.

Tax: UK total tax take in 2021: 33.5% of GDP. That’s the 3rd lowest in the G7, and below both the G7 average (36.3%) and OECD average (34.1%). OECD “tax wedge” for an average worker: UK 29% vs US 30%, France/Italy 47%, Germany 48%. Ours is even lower than the US'. (3)

Growth: UK was the fastest-growing G7 economy in the first half of this year. IMF & OECD both forecast the UK to be the 2nd-fastest growing G7 economy in 2025, behind only the US (and even faster than the US if you discount US public spending in data centres). (2)

I’m a past winner of the Orwell Prize & won partly because I exposed Vote Leave’s unlawful activities. Michael Gove was its co-convener & refused to answer a single q. He’s now a judge of the prize & our world is truly one that Orwell would recognise https://t.co/AfwPdlw1S4
