UK Agriculture is a bizarre industry. Farmers fed up with being told what they can and can't do with their land are angry at farmers deciding to put some of their land to solar
England is losing some of its best farmland to solar panels, with nearly two-thirds of mega solar farms now built on productive agricultural land, a new report reveals. This is completely unacceptable. https://t.co/4vpzQ4cm9l

Congrats to @LinusTech on the Commuter Backpack launch! Looks great. What an amazing product. We were in the process of trashing ours, then realized it could be used to farm engagement instead. RT to win a free Commuter Backpack, shipped anywhere in the world. We'll pick one

Farmers, we do realise that agriculture isn't the only area that Defra oversees, right?
Pitiful farmer representation so the same mistakes will happen again and again. Talk to the people that get their hands dirty and do the work, see what they are willing to do and at what price! Seeing that food security is a priority of yours as well, consider that impact too 1/6

Pretty disappointing to see this utter tripe on your election pamphlet @duncancbaker. Considering your party has left us saddled with high interest rates and out of control cost of living, trying to paint less money going to Societies poorest as a good thing is abhorrent

May be a shocking opinion but I don't want to be inspired by politicians, I just want them to get on with the job instead of causing a different controversy every week
I simply don’t believe voters are inspired by @Keir_Starmer. What an utterly dismal prospect for our country. Grey in every way.

Setting up the tillage trial at Holkham today with the brilliant team there, and help from Jack and his strip till set up. Four different cultivation approaches being assessed this year in a replicated strip trial approach.

Sugarbeet cultivation trial day! This year's trial should be really interesting with the introduction of strip til being put in by @JackRobinson80

what riles me up most when fatality stats get talked about on this platform is people that reply with "if we got paid a better price, this wouldn't happen." If your business can't operate without risking yours and your employees' lives, it shouldn't operate
Posting in full the agricultural fatalities for 2023-4. 32, which includes the most deadly single month (May) for 15 years. Of particular awfulness are the deaths of 3 children under 2. A farmer is 22x more likely to be killed than the average UK worker. How do we improve?

If the avg takeaway coffee is say, £4. It would take just shy of 8 months of buying a coffee every single day to pay one month of my rent. But yes, takeaway coffee is the reason I can’t buy a house x
The cognitive dissonance an entire generation has worldwide about the housing crisis needs to be studied for a century:

MP's trying to spin things like this saying, "Look! Things aren't as shit as they were" is wearing very thin
Energy prices are coming down by £238 to the lowest level in two years. From April, the average bill will be £1,690. This is a significant reduction from where prices were at their peak and the lowest level since Putin invaded Ukraine.

In the past week I have been asked my views many times on the ‘food versus flowers’ debate. We are definitely committed to both.
