Why are police leaders still sending officers into potentially volatile situations with no protective equipment? Because it is provocative? Well, leaving our officers vulnerable to this sort of completely avoidable injury certainly provokes me.

I’m trying to get my head round why, more than 5 hours after being told this was not a @metpoliceuk officer, @theJeremyVine has not deleted his erroneous tweet

In 1989-90 I had a 1972 Mini with rusty doors. It also had the drivetrain from my old rallycross car; it was a bit louder than usual. I got stopped driving home from late turn 7 times in that period. To this day, none of those who stopped me knows I was then a Police Inspector.
