I gave blood for the 1st time today Ashamed that I’ve not done it earlier.It’s such a straightforward process & nothing to be anxious about.Good excuse for a pint of stout to get the iron levels back up too!.If you can, #giveblood.& that’s my wife waving next to me! How romantic

While the trade associations are seemingly celebrating- this is the reality….
THE FARCE.Business rates support is a continuation of existing support (& is vital to many). A beer duty freeze is just that - a ‘freeze’ & is worth absolute buttons. The cost of inflation-busting NLW is being picked up by business not the govt (along with the employers NI. .

The autumn statement delivered a c£800k inc to us (c30 pubs) for 2024 That’s before any beer, food or energy cost inc.Prices will go up by c4% just to cover this. c20p per pint already. As a multiple operator we don’t benefit from rates relief. Who’s celebrating a duty freeze?.

Absolutely this. Not sure why anyone is celebrating victories. A nail in the coffin for many in hospitality businesses.
As expected there is nothing in this budget for SME hospitality businesses apart from a 10% increase in wage cost. As an industry we need to have a fundamental rethink on how we communicate with government as the current approach isn't working. #ukhospitality.

Why is the £ of a pint rocketing?.Energy, NMW, rent, food and beer costs plus interest rates, per pub, our costs have inc. by c£100k / yr / pub on avg in 23. Now another c£25k plus per pub for 2024 NMW. Support NMW but something has to give or there will be no pubs left.

Left this until the last but having watched the BBC pre-race coverage, I am compelled to raise at least a small amount of money for MND. Training has been limited, leg bandaged, this is going to be a challenge. Please make my pain worthwhile by supporting this great cause. TY.
