Really good piece to herald return of home matches. The clips of Mechanics Institute (home of Trades Council) and the Dockers Monument worth noting. Apt as the home ground plays an important part in Limerick's labour history. Blue (collar) city. https://t.co/h5udYIaZy5

New release ๐๐๐๐ This print was made as a small act of love for a city thatโs always been better together. Don't rise to the far right noise. If you believe the 061 is home to everyone, old faces, new faces, all backgrounds and ethnicities share this and spread the grรก ๐

Considering Baptiste's year living in Limerick, this is great addition to the city's black history & insight into 18th century Ireland. Real evocative moment is hearing EileenAroon sung in style Rachel would have sung it, in Peters Cell over 250 years ago https://t.co/uh8YBElgpE
My documentary โBlack Syrenโ is on @RTElyricfm 6pm this eve. This project has been more than work for me. Itโs an important piece of untold Irish history that I canโt wait to share. @operapage @IrishBaroque

Limerick was beautiful today! We @ipsc48 were loud and proud for Palestine. We held our ground and our space in the face of the far right. We showed our unbreakable solidarity with our Palestinian sisters and brothers. This city will give no quarter to racism. #FreePalestine

First ever public reading of Pure Winter was a major highlight of very memorable night with Kevin Barry, Aoife &Steve Being in a packed basement in Catherine St. we were already in main character Joe's backyard, making the resonance more profound. Re-read https://t.co/L1CFCBHHUt

Great news. Hopefully it won't be long before he is emulating Limerick's other star Boevi and gracing the pitch at Dalymount. https://t.co/3Z8b40XsZA

Kevin's championing of Limerick scene in particular hip hop has always been loud. Spotlighting Citrus in The Guardian this year was huge but support goes way back. Now on the same stage where some of the scene's best moments of last few years have played out. Apt. Pure Limerick.

While his international book tours tread the familiar path of bookshops & art spaces, 'tis notable that for last decade, I think all of Kevin Barry's hometown appearances have been in music related spaces/events. Good to see that continue. Will be special https://t.co/rogdlqF2UR

The Stinging Fly continues to play a vital role in discovering & championing new writers. So "Friends of the Fly" very worthy of support. Parochially, Limerick-based writer Paula Dias Garcia @PressSans has memorable short story set in Cratloe Woods, in latest issue. Seek out.
The end of the year, and the start of something new. Did you know we are a new charity? Our new Winter 2024-25 issue is now out in the world, along with our new page to celebrate the Friends of The Fly. As a new charity, our Friends support our work and ambition to remain at

Comment: For more than a century now, we've been told there's no other way to run this country โ that Fianna Fรกil or Fine Gael were the only "realistic" choices. Another Ireland is possible. A left government is the first step toward achieving it. https://t.co/jL6fZHcovi

OTD 100 yrs ago, Len Johnson won his 1st victory on Irish soil at Croke Park, though no word in local press of his Irish heritage (Roscrea) The Black Manchunian boxer would never win British titles due to racist colour bar. Later, he'd be a strong & radical left wing organiser.

This week's story is "Finistรจre" by Kevin Barry.

A man travelling alone in his morbid fifties does not talk to a girl in her teens without family or guardian in sight, especially not in this black romantic mood.

3/4 of Scaryรire being kicked out of the dole office for filming in the early 90's. Grumpy oul bollocks. Hit the pub with the late Denny Cordell of Island records then back to Sloosh's gaff for bodhrรกn scratch shenanigans ๐

This is notable. Historically, pre 1800s, Nicholas St. to John's St. was the busy spine of old Limerick city. I can't think of any occasion in last two decades (prob much longer) where hundreds would have walked that route together. But tomorrow night, circa 7.10 pm they will.
Treaty United are delighted to announce our major partnership with Treaty City Brewery. Treaty United fans can enjoy a burger and a beer for โฌ10 at @TreatyCityBrew prior to tomorrow's game. More Info ๐ https://t.co/PzHMlXoI3V
