If it’s not obvious from the monkey painting, @neuralink runs the best animal research program in the world. Advancing the science and engineering of animal care is an internal mandate and imo progress rivals the technical advancements in N1.

Fourth, thank you to @tuxedocat for taking a chance on me. One of the Elon-isms you shared in my first week: delete any part or process you can. Great advice! My last merge request deleted myself and I won the deletion cup!

Thanks for the conversation @lexfridman. You are tremendously talented and a joy to spend time with.
Here's my 8.5 hour conversation with @elonmusk & @neuralink team. It is the longest podcast I've ever done! 🤯 It's a fascinating, super technical, and wide-ranging conversation. It's here on X & everywhere else, including YouTube: On X, it's split up

Behind every cyborg, there is an amazing human like Tiffany who makes it possible. Brad and Tiffany’s work will bring hope to so many folks with ALS. Thank you both ❤️.
I am the 3rd person in the world to receive the @Neuralink brain implant. 1st with ALS. 1st Nonverbal. I am typing this with my brain. It is my primary communication. Ask me anything! I will answer at least all verified users!. Thank you @elonmusk!

Important work that may one day allow decoding speech and cursor control from a single implant.
New brain-computer interface preprint led by PhD student Tyler Singer-Clark!. This video of a man with paralysis accurately controlling a cursor looks like something you've seen since ~2017. BUT! This is driven by multielectrode arrays in ventral (speech) motor cortex‼️ 1/

I love this description of a calibration bug that arises with early models (46min mark): “When I’m staring at the screen trying to move a cursor its incredibly shaky but as soon as I close my eyes the cursor is still and doesn’t move at all”. If you’ve shipped ML products in the.
Neuralink's First Patient Leaves Us Speechless. Noland Arbaugh @ModdedQuad, @neuralink's first brain chip patient, joins us for an in-depth look into some truly mind blowing stuff (pun intended). You do not want to miss this one. @HansCNelson @elonmusk @chapman_bliss

I made a meme using my @neuralink while on a flight to Austin. Pretty sure this is a first. Not long ago this would have been impossible.

Seven months?? Time flies when you’re having fun!.
Today is seven months since I had my surgery. Here's a quick update. Currently. I'm in session with the great staff at Neuralink Monday through Friday for roughly four hours each day. I'm working on using different body parts and movements for left, right, and middle click. I'm.

btw, @nudge has the most talented team of ~25 engineers in the world right now. i’ve worked with many of them and “generational confluence of talent” is an understatement. they could easily become the bell labs of the 21st century.

My job @nudge is to develop new treatments for the neurological disorders that I and my loved ones deal with every day. If succesful, we will bring the most advanced whole-brain interfaces in the world into the every day lives of millions of people.

Cool academic work on BCI for speech decoding!.
Our new study is out today in the New England Journal of Medicine! We demonstrate a speech neuroprosthesis that decodes the attempted speech of a man with ALS into text with 97.5% accuracy, enabling him to communicate with his family, friends, and colleagues in his own home. 1/9

Academic work over the last several years has demonstrated that focused ultrasound energy provides non-invasive control of neural activity in deep brain regions. If you’re curious how sound can modulate the behavior of neurons, I recommend reading this work by @mikhailshapiro:.

I would love to hear a choir sing with their thoughts. Cool early work in this direction:.
Excited to share our NEW preprint: a "brain-to-voice" neuroprosthesis that directly synthesizes voice from neural activity with closed-loop audio feedback. It allowed a man with ALS to speak expressively by modulating intonation & sing melodies via BCI! 1/

If you want to build the future of human computer interaction and have shipped awesome stuff in the past, reach out!. "Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.".
Neuralink has created an app that decodes movement intention from brain signals recorded by the N1 Implant, allowing you to control a computer with your thoughts.

Advancing the science and engineering of animal research is one of the reasons I'm excited to go to work every day. I'm proud we use our resources to unlock new refinements and light the path forward for the entire community to be less wrong.
The company would argue that it's advancing animal care in ways similar to how it's advancing implants. It does not withhold food or water from the animals to goad them into doing tests. It's been thought that the animals would not . .

Terrifically fun time to be working in this field right now :D.
Check out the two amazing speech BCI studies, in patients that are not able to speak anymore, published in @Nature today:.These studies really push the state of the art and bring clear benefit to patients. What an exciting time!.
