I like to paint. I make YouTube videos about it. Also building a pinball machine, and will prob tweet more about that tho.

My drawing class for beginners is FULLY DONE! It's over 8 hours of learning - figure drawing, the fundamentals of form and perspective, and environments. It's a complete guide of how I learned to draw. 👇
So, Generative AI in REAL TIME is here 🔥
Only 4 days have passed and nothing will ever be the same again. All the design tools, all the work processes, EVERYTHING is going to change.
💡 Here is everything you need to know about LCM-LoRA 🧵👇
One of my early jobs in animation was on a kids' show called The Backyardigans. I painted this as a Christmas gift for our art director (that's him at the bottom.)
@Aidan_Wolf
Brutal attitude. Ignores the fact that learning art has never been more accessible, with thousands of artists putting out free lessons on virtually every topic, and the cost of entry-level materials being as cheap as a pencil. If you need AI to get into art, there is a problem.
My little snowy graveyard environment is coming along nicely. Tutorial coming next week! Lots of grease pencil and texture painting FUN.

Horribly sad to hear that Kim Jung Gi has passed. He was a real powerhouse among artists. Watching him draw was like witnessing magic. He seemed like a fun person to be around, too. I don’t know where he is now, but I’m positive he’s brought his brush pen with him.
@cassiel_filho
I think current pros can indeed use it as a tool (barring ethical concerns.)
I don’t fear the tech. But I do worry about the next generation of artists not being bothered or incentivized to learn fundamental art skills, and what untold impact that might have
@BeigeFrequency
Loved the whole Helwani-leak feint, drawing out the UFC's news early. Glad to see someone finally in a position to take advantage of the UFC's tendency there.
@kyletwebster
Agreed. I’m hoping one day it’ll be obvious that AI doesn’t give you competency, let alone a competitive edge, and maybe folks will find their way to art fundamentals that way
Some work I did for Disney’s “The Nutcracker”. This is for a children’s bedtime book that ties in with the film. Book is called “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”, out now!
What’s been most notable about AI is the amount of students asking me if it’s even worth it to practice art anymore. As though AI’s got them checkmated. Has me thinking that if AI does take over, it won’t be because it’s better…but because human artists have thrown in the towel.
lol, the AI people are asking me to trial some AI software that will make YouTube videos for me. Pushing the trash button has never felt so satisfying.
When my parents redid their kitchen (20 years ago), they couldn’t get the crown moulding to go all the way to the edge…so they hired a real life matte painter!
DAMN PewDiePie, I see you. This is actually really cool to see from a large creator. This a step in the right direction to show that anyone can do this with persistence and practice and critique. AI is NOT needed for art, and should never serve as a replacement.
Those who've ordered my 'Color Survival Guide' class, look for a new chapter, released today! Are you looking to better understand color? The class is here:
For
@GurneyJourney
's plein air event at Lightbox this year, we had to add a giant toy interacting with Pasadena's City Hall. So I brought my son's rattle-giraffe with me. (Someone called it my "comfort giraffe," and asked if I paint with it all the time.)
This hotel is reportedly haunted. They say folks book a stay here and see roaming creatures in the night. Many testify they did not come out the same.
Anyhoo, I’m staying two nights.
I was taught that ‘greater than / less than’ symbols are actually alligator mouths that always want to eat the bigger number, and I see no reason to update this method of understanding.
