Guys, the PROPER way to attack Iran would have been to go over the risks of not attacking with Bill Kristol and ask him for his advice. Then, laud him in public for it, keeping him in the loop about the tactics and victories so that he could boast about the win he always wanted.

(Thread) Obama's diplomacy did a better job handling Iran's nuclear program than Trump's maximum pressure (when he left the JCPOA) or than his bombing.  We were safer then than we are now. And we would have been safer had Trump finalized the deal he was negotiating last month.

Obama’s deal by its own terms paved Iran’s path to a nuclear arsenal at a time of their choosing after the sunsets kicked in and sanctions were lifted. The goal of that deal was not to contain Iran or prevent its going nuclear - just the opposite. The Iranians and anyone not

So much of today's media framing of the Iran war relies on a mythology of what came before. The gist is Iran was contained by Barack Obama until Donald Trump mucked it up. Now, we're told, the regime will really pursue nuclear weapons. Naive is too kind a word. WSJ editorial

Here’s my plea to the national security press: don’t report what he announces at face value. You’ve been suckered over and over to cover his fake trade deals and ceasefire “announcements” like they are real. He’s desperate to look like he’s got a plan. Make sure it’s not fake.
