It really was not that long ago that it was consensus to dismiss most AI startups as chatgpt wrappers, and that AI was a "sustaining" innovation, not a disruptive innovation.

Quality isn't some nebulous thing. It's a ratio. It's how much input - in the form of iteration, brainstorming and experimentation - went into a thing, divided by the scope of the thing. In a word, quality is compression.

No matter what people say, having a t10 (ideally t4) undergrad on ur resume will help a lot in tech. You can obviously make it w/o it, it'll just be harder. anyone telling you differently is trying to sell you something.

i think ppl's outrage around gpt5 is more frustration that reasoning models are just so much better than non-reasoning models now, and gap just keeps growing. Ppl are really just mad that pretraining hit a wall. If the top of the line reasoning models were fast and cheap ppl.
